I just called the police for an incident in my apartment complex. I'm not sure what actually happened. I was lying on the floor having done some ab planks when I heard screams. Not just, like, playing screams, but real screams that I don't think I've ever heard before in real life. Just a woman screaming, over and over again, no words. I jumped into my shoes and headed out the door, my heart thumping. I looked over the balcony but couldn't see anything. I live on the fourth floor and thought maybe the sound had carried from below. I went down to the first floor and several people were poking their heads out, all of them looking creeped out. The screams had stopped by then and so I just called the nonemergency number. When I stopped by the third floor there was a group of people sitting in the hallway around a girl who looked like she had been the one screaming. No one looked wounded or anything, so I don't know what happened (not wanting to pry, obviously, since no one seemed like they were in danger). But a cop came and as far as I know is walking around the complex or something, just to check things out, so hopefully it gets sorted. Maybe it was a bad panic attack or something.

But man, it took me a good ten minutes before my heart stopped racing. Frightening. :( Hope whatever happened, that everyone's all right.
