Time for more of a real update...

While my post yesterday established that yes, I am in fact still alive, I feel I'm probably also overdue for more of an "actual" update.

Law school is a bitch. To put it simply. Kind of what I expected, but a bitch nonetheless. New York City, however, is pretty awesome. While I've had a good time in Atlanta for 4 years, NYC is amazing. Visiting doesn't do this place justice. So many little nooks and crannies to see.

Central Park in particular fascinates me. A short walk away, but it's MASSIVE. And I've walked through the park several times and keep finding new things. This past weekend I discovered a random children's zoo in the park. Before I've found really cool statues, a pond for boating, a pond for toy sail boats, a pretty brick area with a fountain and a ton of street performers (where I took the picture with the giant snake in my Facebook profile) plus just really pretty walks through the forest.

My apartment itself is pretty nice. Reasonably priced (at least for NYC) good-sized room, also a kitchen and living room. My room came furnished. I recently obtained a second twin bed from a friend and put it next to the bed they gave me, giving me very nice king-size bed (which actually isn't too cramped in the bedroom).

The people are very friendly. For all the reputation of law school being competitive, everyone I've met during my time here has been extremely nice. Not what I expected in NYC at all.

Overall it's been quite a time here so far. Every week I'm sampling new restaurants (expensive though, I need to be careful) and finding new places in the city. And as much as I miss all the people I've left behind, this has been a great experience and change so far.
