Cancel, Yes Really, CANCEL my service!

I have just cancelled our Earthlink account.  It was surprisingly difficult to do.  Not because they tried to hold us to some kind of contract or something, but because of the reason we were cancelling - the idiot I was talking to wouldn't *listen* to me.  He couldn't believe I really wanted to cancel everything.  Yes, everything.  Yes, I want the ( Read more... )

Heh... that's sort of what happened when I told Charter that I was canceling everything.

EVERYTHING?

Yes.

But what are you going to do for phone and internet?

Well, I'm going to go outside, call AT&T on my cell phone and I'll have phone and internet before I get home for about 1/2 the price.

Wish I'd kept the cable, tho, the satellite sucks.

It is rather satisfying to tell someone who thinks you can't live without their service to take a flying leap, isn't it? :)

Angela had an incredibly difficult time canceling her (unasked for) EarthStink account. She used to have MCS, which was sold to RCN (IIRC), which went under and transferred everything to EarthStink. When RCN sent the notice out, she called them and canceled. When EarthStink sent her a welcome notice, she called them and canceled. They kept trying to bill her (and kept sending delinquent notices) - getting someone on the phone was an exercise in futility (wait times of up to an hour or more sometimes) - morons. Persistence finally paid off, and they canceled her account and credited all the back charges.

just stay away from Comcast. Get ATnT if you can.
I would have left Comcast on Saturday if AT&T was in my neighborhood.

AT&T service should be enabled today (and hopefully the new modem arrives, too...).
