Rockin' the suburbs

What have I been up to since I last updated? Well last Wednesday I went to Kingston hospital so the doctor could take a look at what I thought might be a hernia, well the good news is that it's definitely not a hernia, just a slightly over-developed muscle, there's not really much of a bump to be honest but I thought it was best to get it checked out. However, the doctor also checked the back of my neck and under my arms and said he could feel glands so thought it would be best to investigate... so I had a blood test that day and he booked me in for a CT scan. So it turned out that what I originally went to see the doctor about was no problem at all, but he found something else that should be looked at, oh joy.

On Saturday afternoon Brittany and I went to London Zoo; I hadn't been there in ages and Brittany wanted to see the cute animals, she liked the giraffes the best. Then we had a late lunch/early dinner at The Hogshead pub in Camden and watched some of the Newcastle v Arsenal game. After that we went to the Tate Modern for about an hour or so and I was surprised by the number of people there, especially on a Saturday night. Some of the art on display was really good and some was not-so-good, though I think the phrase I actually used was "pile of w**k"... oh yes I'm cultured, me. On Sunday afternoon we went over to Catherine and Andy's flat in Wimbledon for mulled wine, mince pies, and good chat. We left there about 5pm and trekked up to Eddie and Andrew's flat on Hanger Lane for dinner and more fun times.

On Tuesday we met up with Eddie, Andrew, and Tom in Brixton to see Ben Folds play Brixton Academy. It was an amazing gig, one of my favourite gigs of the year; Ben's hands were a blur as he played the piano, he's one talented guy. My favourite songs were "Army", "Brick", "Zak & Sara", "Rockin' The Suburbs" and his cover of "Bitches Ain't Shit" by Dr Dre, haha. I can't get over quite how amazing the gig was, just phenomenal.

This morning I drove up to Queen Mary's hospital in Roehampton for my CT scan. I wasn't really nervous at all (should I be?), anyway it was easy enough and didn't take too long, so I was pleased about that. As I was lying there I was thinking "Oooh I'm going inside a giant doughnut", haha. *rollseyes* I've arranged to see the doctor at Kingston hospital again for a follow up appointment so I just have to wait for him to contact me to tell me when that will be. Now I'm at home and avoiding going back to work, heh heh, if I get there for about 2pm it should be ok and hopefully I'll have an easy afternoon. The good thing about taking this morning off work was that I saw the draw for the knock-out phase of the Champions League; Arsenal will be playing Real Madrid! Real fucking Madrid! We'll show Beckham, Raul, and co a thing or two about football! I think this is one for the gods of FIFA to decide...
