"Jensen," says Danneel, with the tone Jensen has come to recognize as you're an idiot, "when are you going to give this up?"
"Give what up?" Jensen asks.
"Okay, ever since the first week of school, you've been like, I hate this freshman, he always asks stupid questions, he's always arguing with me, he's the worst."
"And?" says Jensen, warily. This is all true.
"And, it's obvious that you're in denial," she says, rolling her eyes. "I saw you guys in the snack bar the other night. That was not hate. That was eye-fucking."
Jensen's about to protest, but then he stops short. "Mutual eye-fucking?"
"Boys," says Danneel, exasperated. "Yes! Mutual eye-fucking! Go get him! I cannot deal with this tortured sexual tension thing. Your denial is making me want to smack you. It's hard enough to resist under ordinary circumstances."
