If you're not familiar with Mike Carden, some primers/picspams can be found here, but really all you need to know is that he's the guitarist for The Academy Is ..., he has serial killer eyes but is really a sweetheart, and his best friend/lead singer, Bill Beckett is crazy. No really. I happily read virtually every fic in that community without knowing much more than that. :-)

"What's wrong?" says Mike, instantly. Apparently he went directly past enthusiasm and into scary. That happens a lot.
"Nothing's wrong! Can't I just be happy to be talking to my boyfriend?"
Kevin hears Mike sigh, and he can imagine his exact expression, even over the phone. "Kevin."
"Okay, so I guess I came out."
There's a long pause. "You came out."
"I mean, I guess so. I didn't really mean to! But Nick says I did ( ... )
