My morning started off with an 8:55 visit to the local Red Cross. Wow. They were very helpful in more ways than I ever imagined. They hooked me up with $50 for the grocery store and $160 for clothes and a storage container. I hope everyone affected by this disaster takes advantage of these resources. You may not need them now but you could help someone else with your share if you don't need it. The most important thing I got was referrals from the nurse to a local clinic where I was treated like a human. I have an appointment in the morning to see some various MD's and attempt to piece my medical history together for them and resume my follow up care in the absence of records and doctors I was seeing until so recently.
I was blown away by a customer at the discount house of clothing who followed me to my car and forced $5 on me. He said, "look, if nothing else, go get chur car warshed". I did. In this whirlwind (pun intended) of horror, I have personally experienced the spectrum of mankind. Today was humbling and I can see how there is more of that coming. I have a headache and am going to lie down for a bit. My cell is functioning (504)236-3199 if you want to hear my voice.
