Haha, I was just talking to this one other friend who's going through Lost for the first time, and she hates both Jack and Kate. Sadface. (She used to hate Sawyer, too, but is starting to like him 'cause she's at the point where he's getting nicer.)
NOBODY UNDERSTANDS MY LOVE. (Except, like, anythingbutgrey.)
Akjw;erkljawlkerj;lkj I do not understand the Jack and Kate hate. I love Jack with a fiery passion. And I love Kate too. And Sawyer. I LOVE EVERYBODY. My mom is the only one who understands my extreme love for Jack. I thought it was going to rain the other day, and she said "No, it won't. Jack will fix it." And I was like, "Um, Mutti. Jack can't fix the rain." xD But my best friend has just started and she says Jack is awesome so far, so fingers crossed for her love to grow, lol.
I mean, fine, they can be douchebags. But dude. Look at the people on this island. It's like, I always liked them fine, but didn't really consider them favourites, but then I hopped online and saw SO MUCH HATE, and was all WHAAA-? and then BAM, favourites. Haha, I am ornery that way.
IDK, I'm just so affected by them, and their desperate desire to be good. Particularly Jack and his total inability to let go, his paralysing fear of failure, his Chronic Hero complex, his NEED FOR CONTROL in every situation. Ugh. That shit GETS to me. I just find those flaws so honest and realistic. And let's be real here: The dude got hands down the best, most thoughtful and complex character arc of the show. How are there haters after "The End"? I UNDERSTAND NOT
( ... )
A lot of the Jack hate I've seen is people saying things like "he's lame" or "he doesn't have any real problems"
WHAAAAT. How is being raised by an emotionally abusive father NOT A REAL PROBLEM. That just makes me RAGE. Ugh. I have this huge, huge peeve with people who dismiss emotional abuse. It just reeks of privilege, for one. Secondly, hating Jack for being so fucked up as a result of the emotional abuse is just straight-up victim blaming. I don't care that he's a fictional person. It's shitty.
A few of my friends who've watched Lost don't like the finale, and I just sit there like O_O what is the matter with you xD
Haha, I have some friends who hated it too, which is fair enough. I don't understand how you could not love Jack in it though. By the end, he's fully learnt from all his mistakes. It's a genuine self-sacrifice. How are there haters?
I've seen so many people calling Kate a slut because she's the middle of the triangle, and that just pisses me off to no end.PREACH. Slut-shaming is vile in any circumstance, so. That's
( ... )
Ugh, I know. And he tries so hard, it's not fair to hate on him just because he can't manage to fix everything. He's far from perfect, sure, but (cliche time), nobody's perfect. And he never claims to be.
Yeah, I do get how they could dislike it, I'm just a bit biased because I love it so much. But really, Jack. He passes up the chance to sit in the hero's seat for a lifetime or more to sacrifice himself, he gives his job to Hurley, and he sends Desmond up and back to his family when it would probably have saved Jack's life to let Desmond bring the light back. If that's not full-circle character development and getting-things-right, I don't know what is.
Welll, Jack Harkness from Doctor Who/Torchwood. And, um. That might be it. I JUST REALLY LOVE THOSE TWO JACKS OKAY.
Hahaha, okay. I've only ever seen like, 2 episodes of Torchwood ever (it's on my epic list of shows to get into), so I don't have much of an opinion on Jack Harkness. I'm sure he's a bro!
