More To Come
So, I have to take the car back in tomorrow, and then the next day I have to go to that goddamned wine class at 97.
It wouldn't bother me so much if I could actually make use of this information in my store. But it's completely useless. Make it mandatory to go to a class on Italian wines, and we carry a whopping six different ones. It would be different if we actually had a decent wine section. Or, if I didn't have to do it in the middle of a fucking day off. That also is annoying. Okay, I get paid for it... but who wants to go in to "work" for two hours on one of your days off? I call bullshit.
Then, on the 10th there's a mandatory salesmanship skills meeting (gag). Oh joy. At least that one I can just smile and nod through. The bad news is that the higher-ups will likely also be in attendance. And I do love them so.
I have some photos I want to post, as well as the trip updates (three backlogged major updates by now). They shall be coming, as soon as the inspiration to finish them strikes.
Of course, with the new Hulu desktop app distracting me, it's going to be hard to get much done at my desk, but I'm going to try.
Leno's last Tonight Show was very nice. Sweet but not nauseating. I quite enjoyed it, and look forward to seeing Conan take the reins.
Was checking out my options for my DA G4 server, when I stumbled upon an Xserve for $300. After specing it out, I jumped on that bad boy. Dual 1GHz, 2GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive... and all four drive trays. I really can't afford it, but I was going to have to drop a CPU upgrade into the DA G4 box anyway. There's something special about getting a tiny little 1U server for a moderate price. So what if the specs aren't top-notch anymore? My Windows machine I'm using as a server is from about 2001 or so.
I'm also going to try to get that second job this "weekend" if I can manage to fit that into my schedule. Of course, I was going to do that on Thursday, and the wine class fell smack into the middle of the best time frame for doing that. I might just have to come home and go directly to bed tomorrow night, see if I can't force myself to get an earlier start than I would normally.
