A large group of Spanish-speaking people came in. Nothing unusual about that (except the size.... 7+ is a bit uncommonly large) but they had a couple of English-speakers in the group as well, including the interpreter, who told me that the group was actually the entire Costa Rican chamber of commerce, visiting an economic conference with other south American nations here in the area. They were very polite, and let the interpreter do most of the talking. She actually gave me a coin with a denomination of 5 when she paid, since I asked about it.
Nice folks, seemed pleased that I was able to say a few words to them in Spanish. I know there's a lot of dialects, but it's hard to go wrong with "de nada", or "buenas notches".
Certainly made a slow night more interesting.
