The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin. I love both the movie versions of this, but have never read the book.

Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett. I'm slowly working my way through all the Pratchett Witches books in the library. Somehow I've never been able to get into the Wizard/University-centric Discworld books, and I like the Death/Susan ones but they just don't thrum me the way the Granny/Nanny ones do. I'm psyched about this one; it's thickish and has a Death cameo at the beginning.

Ruby Slippers, Golden Tears (short story collection). This is a book of short stories retelling classic fairy tales with a twist. It has Neil Gaiman and Tanith Lee in it, and I'm sort of in a short-story mood, hence:

Wonderful Town: New York Stories from the New Yorker. This is a big fat collection of short stories set in New York and originally published in the New Yorker magazine. I read a few of them in the library. One was "Slight Rebellion Off Madison" by J.D. Salinger, which seems to be the original, very short prototype story for what would eventually become Catcher in the Rye. I read it, and realized I haven't read Catcher in the Rye in much too long, so...

Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I saw this all over Barnes & Noble at one point, but never really picked it up for some reason, and then mcausland recommended it to me, and now I've finally got it and shall read it, by hokey.

Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaugn. This is another one of those Moon Called-type "tough, no-nonsense female protagonist inhabits underworld teeming with supernatural creatures which she fights, sarcastically." That Kelly Armstrong one was boring and I didn't get very far in it, but this one looks more promising so far.

Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice. I dunno, I just suddenly felt like I wanted to read this. I'm still in the middle of rereading Dracula, too, so maybe it's the Halloween spirit getting hold of me.
