The large clip things are the way to go, in my opinion. I use them now that my hair's just past my shoulders, and I was using the same exact thing (albeit in a slightly bigger size) when my hair was down to my waist. They're wonderful and easy and they do the job of keeping the hair up and out of the way.

No time to read fic before my lecture (8am, wtf...) but, re: hair things - if it's cheap you're after, try Primark and Claire's Accessories. Also, if you want pretties for cheap, try Bangles in the covered market - pretty sure they have hair clips and things, they certainly have earrings for £1.

I'm so glad I got my hair hacked off, I can still shove it up but also have it down and not die of heat.
