Step 1 of the John/Vala Thingathon Sign-up + Q&A
Welcome to part 1 of the sign-up post for the John/Vala Thingathon!
This challenge, like John and Vala, is a tad footloose and fancy. Because it's friendly to other ships, the sign-up will be a bit different from other gift exchanges you might have played in. (You'll be able to request John/Vala as an OTP, of course.) How different is it? See the FAQ!
There are 2 simple steps!
One
1. Comment to this post right here with:

Please NO spoilers from:
- Spoiler-protection will apply to giving and receiving.
- If you want the e-mail screened, reply to your first comment, and we'll do our best to screen those out.
- If at some point you want to write a letter to your giver, you can reply with a link to that, too.
Two
2. Go to the private request poll / form! It has to be the one hosted at the shusu LJ - it has adult content by default, so poke around elsewhere at your own risk.
2a. Do you have a Livejournal? Take the request poll! Feel free to elaborate in comments.
Please fill out all required fields. It will seem a bit long; it's divided between what you want to create and what you want to receive. We'll do our best to match you based on that information. There will be a number next to each question to tell you how many you're allowed to pick and/or how many you're guaranteed.
The matching process ought to lower your chances of landing outside your comfort zone; creators are asked to respect *all* squicks listed. However, you are only guaranteed to opt out of creating one squick (it's the text entry). So enter with an adventurous spirit!
2b. If you don't have a Livejournal account, go to step 2 to copy the form and comment (*not* here!) at the request post. Same dance, different shoes! All comments are screened.
The advantage of Step 2 is that you can change your mind until 11:59 pm Central on Friday, June 22, when that post is privatized and sign-ups close. Non-LJers' *last* comment will be counted.
Even if the math doesn't work out, we hope to provide everyone who made a Thing with a Thing of their own.
Then you'll probably get two e-mails to start:
- possibly a confirmation of your requests; you have until Sunday, June 24 to change anything. If we don't get an e-mail back by then, we'll assume you're good for it.
- by Monday, June 25, your assignments! You can pick at least one of three prompts and get shaking with some brand spanking new John/Vala!
The due date is all the way in August 14, 2007. That is a TUESDAY and it will be due by 12:00 pm NOON CT. At that time, the community will be open for members-only posting, and the mods will begin posting the non-LJ givers' Things. Then we can bask in all the lovely John and Vala!
We'd like for everyone to complete the challenge, but if for any reason you can't make it, please, please please tell the mods as soon as possible so we can assign some lovely and talented pinch-hitter.

Step 3 is almost as important as signing up - please let people know that sign-ups are open! (We have banners and buttons!) Like everything Vala and John, this is a risky proposition, and the exchange may not work without a lot of participants.
