Of course it could have gone worse too.
I am referring to the "Save Phoenix Games" meeting tonight.
To summarize for those who weren't there, or didn't stay for the end:
The store owes lots of money, the Landlords have demanded a large chunk of said money by this weekend or we will be evicted. Tonights meeting was to try to raise the necessary funds to avoid this.
Many ideas were floated but the main occurrence was a not hostile but rather... forceful takeover bid which would have bailed us out on the condition of placing ultimate authority in the hands of the three people involved.
This offer was debated for some hours with some progress, but ultimately hit one insurmountable barrier: The three potential investors lack faith in Michael's management and so were unwilling to accept any outcome which didn't give them final-word control of the store. Michael, who has poured years of effort and many tens of thousands of dollars into the store already, was unwilling to be, in his view, placed on a leash by the people in question. The offer has therefore been rejected.
Unfortunately this took up all remaining time in the meeting before most people had to leave, and therefore precluded attempts to raise more modest contributions from the other attendees. Some pledges of support have been received, and the crisis may be manageable, but significant uncertainty remains, and time is very short.
So anyone else in a position to help would be appreciated.
