Howl

There's a reason why all my posts have been about skating recently.

Job-hunting just makes me want to cry, scream, and kick people (preferably the ones who write the sneery "1-2 years' experience required" job ads). GET THE HELL OUT OF THE GRADUATE/ENTRY LEVEL SECTION OF THE WEBSITE THEN, YOU SNEERY PANTS MCSNEERTONS. AND TAKE YOUR "WE DON'T WANT CAREER-MINDED INDIVIDUALS! WE WANT A ROCK!!!!!!!!*" RUBBISH WITH YOU.

All I can do is yell at my computer screen. It doesn't always satisfy.

My latest rejection apparently had over 430 applicants. So, you know, still no constructive help on applications. My "recruitment" person has done nothing at all whatsoever to help. (Yes, I've sent applications to other recruitment firms - basically, I have no reason to trust a recruitment agency to get me a job, at all.)

*Bitter*

Today would have been a pretty good day since I went skating at a rink where I was the only one there (for $7! A whole rink to myself!) and I think I've worked out a bit of the plow stop, and crossovers are okay until I overthink it, T-stops are still rubbish. School children turned up about an hour in, but I'd been planning to leave by then anyway. (And am amused they still send children to that rink - I remember my first time there, almost 15 years ago - it hasn't changed much).

When I was driving home I managed to knock off the wing mirror (just the mirror, the rest of the stand is fine) on the car, because with road works on my road I got distracted trying to watch for workers and an oncoming truck so didn't notice the METAL RODS AT AN ANGLE FROM THE PAVEMENT (SO IT WAS LEANING OUT INTO THE ROAD) THAT WAS JUST PERFECT TO STAB MY MIRROR.

Needless to say, I was a little freaked out when GLASS SHATTERED** and still feel pretty guilty about it. I retrieved the mirror in the hopes of sticking it back on without anybody noticing, but the cracks and missing pieces may not be so convincing (IT WAS LIKE THAT WHEN I GOT HERE). At least I only ever drive the old car (so old it has a tape deck and no understanding of digital media whatsover) since my parents suspect it of stalling at random intervals and avoid using it. I've only ever had it stall when I'm rushing a maneouvre like parallel parking or three point turns in the cold (and usually on the reversing sections of those) so I'm not really worried about it. Poor car.

My first piece of property damage while driving! Whoo.

* A rock who'll not complain when we pay them the absolute minimum we can possibly get away with, and not leave the company or attempt to climb higher, oh no. We don't like those career-minded rocks, with the wanting decent pay for their degree they still have to pay off and other commitments in life.
** OK more like it shattered when the mirror got dislodged onto the ground. But still! I had no idea what had happened!

ranting, roller derby, fambly
