I am the shadow on the moon at night

On a werewolf kick at the moment.

Well, not just at the moment. It's just that I watched Ginger Snaps last night, and am halfway through Blood and Chocolate. I also read Sharp Teeth a couple of weeks ago.

Female werewolf characters are severely under-represented! Especially ones who are strong and clever and get to revel in it without dying for being ( Read more... )

Man, I love writing werewolf stories. Haven't attempted one in ages, though.

Tastes vary, but I always liked Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King.

Ooh, thanks for the recommendation! I haven't read much King stuff (I think I've read his only fantasy book The Eyes of the Dragon, and read a graphic novel version of The Dark Tower). I shall look out for it.

non-white werewolves

I AGREE.

I loved the hell out of Sharp Teeth and it tears at my guts that the author made up a pointless rule (one girl per pack) that, yeah, creates tension for his novel, but aaaarrhghahds, it does it at the expense of girls as anything but sex objects. SIGH. I still love it, but I have Decided that these packs are just following some other complementary Way that relies on one-girlness. And that other packs are 50/50, like the rest of the world.

Werewolves are a million bajillion times better than vampires, end of story. *arms crossed*

Wahey, bastion of truth! Also, I think LJ has eaten a comment of yours, though I still got an email notification about it. Oh well, I did understand what you meant about the girls being nothing but sex objects in Sharp Teeth. Annoying! Also, the first girl in the pack, did she have a name? I'm not sure what effect he was going for with that lack of a name.

I totally agree about werewolves (though, sadly, the only werewolf-related media I've indulged in is the mst3k of "Werewolf," a truly appalling film).

I love Ginger Snaps!

Uh. That's a pretty limited comment, but it's all I got.
