I have survived!

Parties are strange things, I'm finding.

They are these fantastic opportunities to circulate and meet new people, but more often than not I'll cling close to the people I know and avoid making eye contact with anyone else. But I'm not beating myself up about it yet, the whole party scene is still fairly new to me so I'm fine with taking it slowly.

I did drink a bit, figured it'd makes things a bit easier. Plus, I'm clearly an alcoholic now. I blame
rob_w and his cider. ;-)

Never realised how conveniently located my work is, considering after my morning shift on Saturday I got both drinks and wrapping paper before catching the train home. There's Minotaur, there's Clegs, there's this bottle shop I'd never really thought about before, there's a newsagent's too...

Fun thing about drinking is you know you're acting quite drunk tipsy but you can't really do anything about it (at the time). And you don't really feel that badly affected at the time. I'm iffy about saying I was drunk, since it'd be acknowledging how much of a lightweight I actually am if I was drunk on two-and-a-bit Smirnoff thingies. There was a pack of four, I shared one and gave one away. (This is how I have worked out how to make friends - sheer unadulterated bribery!)

Anyway. So there was a marquee set up, with food (yay food) and drinks and also a fire set up (away from the tent) to warm yourselves at when it got too cold.

The camera was a little frustrating at times, I guess it's obvious I still have a lot to learn. Pepito was pretty straightforward, did most of the work well. Apollo needs more nudging to do what I want, especially as I'm trying to avoid sticking to the fully automatic mode. Taking photos without flash introduces a lot of noise into the pictures (it's so awesome, I actually know why now), especially visible when I lighten the exposure on the computer. (I really want to get Photoshop Lightroom...) But yes. I'm just a little disappointed at how some of them turned out. A few were nice, like the fire ones.

I also would like a tripod, I think. Just to push myself in the right direction with Apollo.

When the night had quietened down a bit we ended up watching the original first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie before trying to fall asleep wherever we could. I ended up curling up in a chair, which was interesting. Not the most comfortable of spots, so I didn't end up sleeping much.

Anyway. In the morning there was breakfast, and watching of Bill Bailey. I even watched some bits I'd seen when I visited the Bristol lot in 2005, which was an interesting contrast. So much has changed since the last time I saw it.

Ended up getting home at about 3pm. Still haven't slept! Because I am a machine.

(Also I have work tomorrow morning, so don't want to mess around with my sleeping patterns just yet.)
