Character/Pairing: Rikuo

While tales of his grandfather's and father's fabled exploits had inspired him, there were times where Rikuo wondered if he wanted to be just like them.
It was true that they were noble youkai who lived and fought while adhering to a code of conduct that championed qualities such as honour and loyalty, but his grandfather had hardly considered ongoings outside of his quest to become the leader of all spirits. His father, being half human and half youkai, had paid a little more attention to the human world while he continued to extend the legacy of the Nura clan. His actions had paid off, as many of the more public facets of the clan now hid in plain sight in light of the modern world.
Still, Rikuo himself felt a little dissatisfied. He wanted... to be more.
His answer came to him when he had come face-to-face with the Nue. Seeing what amounted to his evil counterpart commit such a heinous crime as tossing his own mother into hell, listening to him declare that he was going to rule over humans and youkai alike... it enraged him. His hot-bloodedness had possessed him then, because he knew deep in his heart that the kind of leader - the kind of man - he wanted to be was the exact opposite of this bastard in front of him.
Rikuo understood then that to be the ultimate leader of all spirits, he would have to forge a world where humans and youkai could co-exist. The Nue... youkai in general... they believed that the claim to power lay in the ability to annihilate their enemies. But he knew better.
Real power, he understood, came from being able to choose peace.
