4x18: "Mirage"
ABC summary: Sydney is shocked when she discovers that Jack is terminally ill -- and that he chose not to tell her. Meanwhile, Nadia's orphanage caregiver, Sophia (Sonia Braga), continues her convalescence at Sydney's apartment. Michael McKean guest stars as Jack's doctor.
this episode was much better than last week's. you see? transition stage. i liked how both stories played out, though jack's was more prominent.
so jack has been been sick since the radiation incident. he's all mutated and now, he's hallucinating things. remember his doctor from last episode (michael mckean)? jack was just imagining it all. he thought he was being treated and that he was on the road to getting better when in reality, he was imagining it all. syd/vaughn find him in this deserted building, injecting himself with poison (which he thought was the alkaline treatment given by the doctor).
the thing is, jack's hallucinations were true. the doctor does exist; they just needed to locate where he went (because jack protects his friends). since jack was seeing things and thought that syd was laura (aka, irina), they decided to set up the bristow house in the year 1981, the year he's been seeing in his mind. it was really cool, seeing how it was back then. syd dressed up as laura; it was kind of weird and aw, little syd! that was cute. it was heartbreaking to see how much jack really cared (and still cares) for syd. gah, i almost thought they were going to kiss but whew, jack just kissed syd's hand. anyway, they find out that dr. lydell is in finland and they go get him to treat jack right away.
oh! and we see where jack lives! for some reason, i feel like they've shown it before but just really briefly. but cool place. it's really jack-like.
meanwhile the other plot is sophia (aka, elena). the glasses dude keeps reminding me of ben folds but anyway. the object everyone's still after is that chemical. in the beginning we pick up where we left off with dixon still posing as that guy. but glasses dude comes in and starts blowing things up in the club. syd fights with glasses dude (but he gets away), vaughn looked HOT, dixon shoots the original guy with the chemical and then they (syd & co) take possession of it.
remember the necklace sophia gave nadia? yup, sophia's been listening in. she's been pursuing the same chemical, secretly unbeknownst to everyone. she eventually gets it and kills glasses dude (who works for her), further confusing syd & co. so that's that.
nadia/weiss are so cute! they had a quick kiss! squee! and of course, i continue to love marshall. a lot.
syd: "remind me to kiss you, marshall."
marshall: "oh, well... heh...."
weiss: "what'd she say?"
marshall: "oh, n-nothing."
i guess based from the previews, jack gets better. and if they don't stop the bad guys, a lot of people will die. yup. i'm assuming they're still talking about the chemical being used as the weapon.
