Day 37

Sep 20, 2007 22:35

Well, Ryland predicted a 6-0 win over Anorthosis Famgusta and damned if Tottenham didn't get close.  6-1 was the final score, which, I must say, I was rather impressed.  They managed to score the first goal in the first 5 minutes of the match and then another 3 goals in 4 minutes and then Defoe got in another 2 in his 20 minutes in play.  Well ( Read more... )

I am guilty of the red spots, but I like to think that I used them sparingly and then it was just a splash of color, rather than a distinct red dot.

I taught myself Photoshop as well, which is probably why I'm so behind the curve when it comes to the fads.

Sharpening has a lot to do with your computer monitor. Mine all look fine to me, and I've heard they're sometimes blurry. On my computer, some of yours look oversharpened, but most of them are okay. It's just a matter of preference, I guess.

I do find it funny that brdwaygreenbean said yours were oversharpened. Hers always look really oversharpened and overtextured to me.

sempiterna's icons are total shite. She does oversharpen, and she uses way too many brushes and textures (almost to the point of not being able to tell what the base actually is).

That's my opinion, anyway.

I hadn't really seen her's. I just tried to check out her journal, figures she'd have it friends only.

It's always a question of monitor, I think. The coloring issue is the same. As far as sharpening though, it's also a matter of personal style, I think. And that community is so stuck in one style that I don't even know why I applied to being with. Everyone's icons look exactly the same!

Personally, I like my icons to be a bit sharp/high contrast. It does make the details pop, as you said, so I always sharpen and raise the contrast on my own. Perhaps it was just that one person's opinion? I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are too many icon fads going on now, none of which look particularly good anyway, so just stick with what you like to do. :)

For me it all depends on the image. What does the source image I'm working with call for? I think that's why I've never really developed a distinct style. I try and work with what I have, so things come out differently all the time. That's what I aim for at least. ;)

I don't think AT ALL that your icons are overshapened. I actually like the way you sharpen them. Regarding the colour being off balance, I understand they might not agree with the way you colour the icons because some of them are, for example, more yellow-ish -for example in the last N&S batch- than "general" common icons going about out there. However, I do like the colour so if they want to call it off balance I like icons with off balanced colours ...at least yours. Look and I'm using it :D No, but seriously, I don't agree with the oversharpened part and I understand the colour part, although I don't agree. I think your icons are good and personal, which I think is one of the best things (personal both in 'technique' and in interests). And one little thing... I'm not only for the icons ( ... )

I think a lot of icons look sharp/blurry due to your monitor. I've been told sometimes mine are too dark, but that is because I work on a laptop with an LCD screen and everything is so BRIGHT on it! I think your icons are lovely!
