Today Adrian ( london1952 ) and I took his Mum to visit
in south-east London. We had been before but not for a few years. It's a very unusual combination of a medieval Great Hall (with remains of the old royal palace - Henry VIII spent most of his childhood there) with the Art Deco house built for the moneyed Courtald family). The gardens are beautiful:
The weather wasn't great but at least it didn't rain (it poured down in the night and morning).
The lovely William ( williamthebruce) invited us round for a 5 pm afternoon tea! He and Michael were the perfect hosts. We were given teacakes, banana and peanut butter bread (made by Wills) and a beatiful chocolate marble cake that Michael had baked earlier. WIlliam served tea in his great-grandmother's gorgeous tea set (yes, you are allowed to think of Hyacinth and her hand-painted periwinkle!!)
Here's William with the cake:
We were also visited by a cat that Wills abducted befriended a few days ago.
