Di tutto un po'

My leg is making good progress and last Sunday I managed to do my first bit of gardening in months!

I had a massage last Friday and the masseur said that I'm very unbalanced (I don't think he meant mentally! LOL). My right leg has been doing the bulk of the work and there are knots in all the muscles on the right side: Michael said that he had never come across a calf with so many lumps. All this made the massage rather painful!

I'm carrying on with physiotherapy. This week the insurance approved another 3 private sessions, after almost a month of waiting: it turns out that it is the private hospital's fault. They took their time with providing the information needed. But now they want me to have an ultrasound scan. I believe it's really a ruse to get more money from the insurance company. As only a specialist can prescribe a scan I would have to see one first, but that would require a letter from my GP. I'm going to leave it. After all both the NHS consultant and the NHS physiotherapist are happy without one.

So back to gardening...

I lifted dahlias from some of the pots, and put in tulips, daffodils, crocuses, muscari and wallflowers.
I got quite excited about the combination of colours and flowers, and Linda - a neighbour, who's very funny - told me to "get a life!" LOL!
Well she's probably right.

This year we had some exciting and new (well to us!) plants.

The lovely Ricardo (bazanges) gave us a dozen seeds of Mina lobata (aka "Spanish flag"); only one sprouted but what a fantastic display! The flowers change colour during their life, last a long time and indeed live up to their name.

Another plant that we enjoyed was cobaea scandens (aka "Cup and saucer plant").
The climber kept growing and growing for weeks to a huge size before blooming, but then put on a great show

From now now, it's mainly going to be indoor flowers

Schlumbergera (aka Christmas cactus) in flower. (Especially for tilia-tomentosa)

On Monday we had free tickets (courtesy of Virgin Media) for a preview of "Saving Mr Banks"

a film about the very difficult collaboration (if you can call it that!) between Walt Disney and P.L. Travers, the author of "Mary Poppins". We both really enjoyed it.
