Chi c'era sotto la Mole?

My week-end in Torino went very well.
I was surprised that it was still so warm (although a 10 degrees C drop is forecast for later in the week) and annoyed to get bitten 4 times by unseasonable mosquitoes!

The highlight of this visit to my hometown was seeing paulintoronto and bobalone who happened to be in Torino at the same time as I.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to ( Read more... )

Thanks!
And yes it is - somehow it's easier to appreciate its beauty now that I don't live there! LOL!

It was wonderful seeing you in your home city, Franco, even if briefly. The following day, Paul took me on a walk that retraced some of your steps, and I really enjoyed it--especially the views of the River Po, and the Parc Valentino, which was teeming with people lolling in the afternoon sun. Torino is a beautiful city, rich in heritage, culture and style, and I can understand why you are proud to show it to visitors. We were lucky to have you as a guide. Thanks again.

I am really glad you that you both enjoyed Torino.
Hopefully one day you'll visit again!

And I am looking forward to next time we meet, wherever that will be.

Hope that you're feeling better now.

I am feeling somewhat improved, but still not my usual self. Meanwhile, stalwart Puul has caught my cold and we're both going through tissues by the box.

The Weather in Rome doesn't help. Although, until today, it has been sunny, it is VERY cold--down to 5 or so at night. Yesterday, we had to turn on the heater in the bedroom, though briefly. Nevertheless, we are walking for 3-5 hours a day, and enjoying the sights. And Trastevere is wonderful; where we are situated feels very untrammeled by tourists, and so atmospheric.

By the way, tell Adrian that I envy the look and, I am sure, the taste, of his ricotta cake. We did have a dssert here that was to die for--mascarpone mousse, with tiny, wild strawberries--fragolini? Yummy!

Oh no, poor Paul! And poor you! Finger crossed that you'll be back to normal soon.
But it's good to hear that you are enjoying Rome, notwithstanding.

The temperature seems to have dropped all over Italy: my parents told me that it goes down to 0 at night!

The ricotta tart was gorgeous and your mascarpone mousse sounds terrific - isn't that criminal that all these gorgeous dessert are just so fattening?
