Today I was reacquainted with (what london1967 calls) my "Pumpkin walk" !!  For anyone who has read Arthur Golden's novel "Memoirs of a Geisha" they will have an idea of what it is like.  I didn't leave the house yesterday apart from clearing some snow from the path, and briefly stepping out into the back garden, camera in hand, but as there was a slight ( Read more... )

The snow that started falling on Thursday evening (last week) has at last melted due to the slightly raised temperature today, but it's still chilly..... and a riot of small garden birds are enjoying all the food we put out for them, and that the ice in the bird-bath is now liquid !

This weekend was one of my regular scheduled trips up the Yorkshire to mainly see my mother. We saw a fair amount of the sun though it was very chilly, and we had some snow !

Usually on my February visit we have a drive somewhere in the countryside to spot the snowdrops, often the grounds surrounding Fountains Abbey as it has a great show of them.  ( Read more... )
