It was relatively cold out. The wind seemed to cut right through the clothes. Yunru sighed. He forgot to wear warmer clothes. It was alright midday but as it got dark, it started to get cold. He walked quickly, with hopes of reaching home soon. A warm bath and a hot drink was much required ( ... )

So she was in a very relaxing situation where she enjoyed her cup of hot tea and doing her works. How doing papers is a relaxing to do, it is too complicated to explain. Anyway, then this man approached her and asked to sit with her. Because the café is full. Because she is the only one who has free seat here.

Did she mishear him or that was the exact thing he said to her? Well Jocelyn, it would be rude to refuse as this man asked her politely. And because she had to be a better person than she already was, she nodded hesitantly.

"S-sure. No one seats here."

Allowed Yunru to sit? Yes. Cleaning her paper so it would look better? Yes. But the Staring Cautiously at The Stranger I Met in Tea House was still going on. Hey, a girl needs to watch out for her surroundings!

Yunru's smile broadened. He thought that the woman was going to reject him for a second. "Thank you very much. I'm Yunru by the way." He placed his tea and scones on the table and pulled the chair out to sit down. Glancing at the woman again, he noticed that she was staring at him. He shifted uncomfortably on the spot.

"Well... I promise I won't disrupt you or make unnecessary contact if you feel discomfort with me. I'll try not to stay too long then. If a free table appears elsewhere then I will move if you like." He spoke slowly and carefully. His eyebrows furrowed with concern. Was his presence really that bad?

That startled Jocelyn and made her realize she had been staring so obviously at Yunru, and probably quite rude too. She shook her head, almost looked like she was going to flail.

"N-no, i-it's okay lah. Uh, you are free to sit here and take your dinner. I-I don't mind.."

That came out somewhat wrong was it? But what you have said could not be undone, Jocelyn just shifted her attention to her papers and took a sip of her tea when she realized..

..Those scones Yunru had looked really tempting.

Yunru sat down and blew gently on his cup of tea before taking a sip. It was still quite hot. So he took a scone with a generous amount of jam and cream and bit it. Delicious.

He glanced at the woman again. He still didn't know her name. But he did manage to see her secretly peeking at his scones. He smiled. She didn't seem to have food on her table so she must be hungry. Plus she was working so hard, so she must have gotten an appetite. You can't work or gamble on an empty stomach right?

"Would you like to have a scone? Really, it's a shame if you didn't try one. They are very good."

It was actually a bad idea for Jocelyn to picked a tea house rather than real restaurant as she is a true Asian and can not survive without eating rice three times a day. So yes, she was a wee bit hungry. And those scones were perfectly baked, the smells were amazing.. Not to mention it would be great if you add jam on it. She was starving.

"Um, no I don't take scones. They are too sweet.."

She paused for a bit before continuing.

"Or they aren't?"

"Well you'll never know if you don't try right? Don't worry about it. Think of it as thanks for letting me sit here with you." He gently pushed the plate of scones towards her direction while maintaining eye-contact as he spoke.

Then he looked down at his hands, hoping that he wasn't intimidating her with his gaze. She did seem uncomfortable with him earlier. He licked the sticky blob of jam off his index finger before continuing, "I hope you don't mind me asking for your name. I would very much like to know it senhora*. I am sorry if I'm being too forward though." Yunru gave a sheepish smile.

*senhora [lady - Portuguese] ...I hope orz

She blinked few times and kept on staring at the scones while still holding her pen tightly, take it or not take it. If you take it then you are getting closer to sorethroat, but if you do not take it.. Well, you are going to regret the chance later on all of your life. Do not worry, one scone would not hurt. Yes that is right, take it from the plate, place it in your mouth and feel the sweet, yet sour taste from the strawberry jam all over your mouth. Ah, how long had it been since the last time she committed a crime and broke her own rule?

After she finished her scone she just realized Yunru was asking for her name. However, Jocelyn was quite disturbed at how the man licked his finger in the middle of public, so instead of answering hi question, she took a worse pick and decided to..

......Scold.

"I am more concerned on how you forgot your manner by licking your finger in front of a person you just met! Very tak tahan lah!"Good job Jocelyn, in one of the rare chance where someone approached to make friends with you, you destroyed ( ... )

"Ah!" Yunru was startled at the sudden scolding, he could feel himself jump with surprise. She was so quiet before. He must have done something offensive. Did she not like the scones? Was he being too forward? His mind raced with possibilities ( ... )

What is this? What is this sudden weird feeling she had? She felt something unexplainable was going on in her mind and heart right now. Something that made her very confused, and she was unfamiliar with the feeling. Everytime she scolded someone, it were her siblings. And they would usually rebuke her too for scolding her older siblings. Or when she snapped at other person, they would run away (In which she did not know that they were crying). Sometimes they would say sorry, but then they would grumble and cause Jocelyn to yell even louder ( ... )

Yunru's eyes were still downcast in shame from being scolded but a small smile crept up his lips at the woman's words. He let out a deep breath. "Thank you."

Then glancing at her, he smiled and repeated his question, "So, can I have the pleasure of knowing your name? Although I initially intended to leave quickly, I'm afraid I've come to enjoy the company... I hope you don't mind."

Yunru found himself going home later than he expected. The small detour wasn't so small after all.

Although still looking quite worried because she just snapped at a nice stranger, Jocelyn nods quietly before giving out an answer.

"J-Jocelyn.. My name is Jocelyn, nice meeting you."

She gives a nervous little wave before continuing to finish the scone. Perhaps they could meet again and have a better time next time.
