"Ah!" Yunru was startled at the sudden scolding, he could feel himself jump with surprise. She was so quiet before. He must have done something offensive. Did she not like the scones? Was he being too forward? His mind raced with possibilities.

...Ohhh. Without thinking he licked his finger. The scone with jam and cream tasted delicious that he couldn't help but want to lick his finger. So that was it. In this comfortable, warm atmosphere that reminded him of home, he had been careless. As he thought, he bore a passive expression but his face tensed. His blue eye, intense.

Usually his irmão never nit-picked with his table-manners. But then again, he was usually quite good with them. So did she hate him now? Did she want him to leave immediately? What would happen next? The tension from his face unfolded to an expression bearing the worry of rejection.

"Ahhh- I'm so sorry. Eu sinto muito-" He paused. "...desculpe." He looked away. He disliked confrontation. He could feel his face and ears burning with shame. "What I did, I did without thought. I'm sorry."

Yunru turned back to look at the woman. Holding his gaze he said, "Senhora, would you like me to leave? I have been making you uncomfortable. I have forgotten my manners in front of lady." He paused, not quite sure what to say next. What would irmão have done?

"...Thank you for scolding me. It was very right of you to correct my rudeness. I'm sorry." He inwardly gave himself a second scolding. If anyone from the Chinese side of his family had known about this, they would have made sure he never forgot about it.

What is this? What is this sudden weird feeling she had? She felt something unexplainable was going on in her mind and heart right now. Something that made her very confused, and she was unfamiliar with the feeling. Everytime she scolded someone, it were her siblings. And they would usually rebuke her too for scolding her older siblings. Or when she snapped at other person, they would run away (In which she did not know that they were crying). Sometimes they would say sorry, but then they would grumble and cause Jocelyn to yell even louder.

So what is this thing called again? Guilty? But she had never felt guilty before! What would she do? She did not want this friendly guy to leave! She could have made friends with him if she could control herself not to snap. Maybe this guilty feeling came out because he really mean the 'sorry'?

"Y-you can still stay here and take your scone! I-I mean you, you gave me scone! And you're nice! Just kinda yucky!"

Yes that did not come out right. But at least she have said that she really wanted Yunru to stay and accompany her right? It was easy to survive in her house without friend because she still had her parents, but now.. In this unfamiliar city where she knows no one?

So how about we wrap this up? amagaoshark December 1 2009, 00:57:49 UTC
Yunru's eyes were still downcast in shame from being scolded but a small smile crept up his lips at the woman's words. He let out a deep breath. "Thank you."

Then glancing at her, he smiled and repeated his question, "So, can I have the pleasure of knowing your name? Although I initially intended to leave quickly, I'm afraid I've come to enjoy the company... I hope you don't mind."

Yunru found himself going home later than he expected. The small detour wasn't so small after all.

Although still looking quite worried because she just snapped at a nice stranger, Jocelyn nods quietly before giving out an answer.

"J-Jocelyn.. My name is Jocelyn, nice meeting you."

She gives a nervous little wave before continuing to finish the scone. Perhaps they could meet again and have a better time next time.
