WHO: Emi and Elizaveta WHEN: Monday, November 7th, noon WHERE: The Mall WHAT: In between snooping around for a new winter jacket, Elizaveta sees a familiar face.
Emi supposed there were some drawbacks to being a bit too frugal sometimes. But the faint disappointment she would often feel upon realizing she couldn't do certain things, buy as heedlessly as others, or travel too often tended to be quickly subdued by Emi assuring herself that it was okay because, really, she needed to pinch all the pennies she could - especially now that it was just John and herself sharing an apartment. Raised rent, tuition, and an okay paying job weren't enough. And after that gigantic splurge that had been her one month trip across North America with Jared, Emi realized that she had to be even more careful of how she spent her money

Emiliana? Ah, at least she had been close. Laughing a little, Elizaveta nodded. "It was a short introduction, wasn't it? I did get a good impression of you though!" Tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear, she held out her hand. "How about a do over? As mentioned before, I'm Elizaveta. I'm in a bit of a money pinch right now, I poke my nose in other people's businesses, I own a gay bar and I currently date one Gilbert Beilschmidt."
She wrinkled her nose, "Listing it all out, it seems like a my life is just a bunch of bad mistakes." Elizaveta laughed again, a blush covering her cheeks. "Really though, it's a pleasure to meet you (again)."
Looking around, she sighed. "And please tell me that you are also here to cry, because I always seem to forget how terrifying winter jacket prices are."

Temporarily thrown off, Emi suddenly laughed as she shook her head, lips still pulled into a now more relaxed smile. "If that's how we're doing things," she began, raising an eyebrow. "You can call me Emi. I'm...in a similar situation myself. I'm a grad student with a horrible job as a waitress. I had a friend that worked as a bartender at a gay bar, actually- Oh, and if we're talking about love lives, I guess I'm recently single and...can't help but go, Gilbert? Really?" Tilting her head at the other woman, the sheepish expression came back to her face.
"Pues, okay, that was supposed to be more surprised than rude, I swear," holding her hands up briefly, Emi suddenly sighed once again. "No, I am. I don't like how cold it gets here and my coat is turning into shit now," she explained bitterly. "So I came to buy a new one and maybe some other essentials, pero..." She tossed another mopey expression toward the too-expensive-pea coat at the window display of some horribly pretentious storefront.

"A friend that worked a gay bar? Oh, who was it? I might know him!" Elizaveta smiled, and then turned slightly pink as she laughed, "And yes... Gilbert. A lot of people were surprised I guess, but I don't know, he just feels right. Even if he's one of the biggest dorks I know."
Waving her hand dismissively, Elizaveta rolled her eyes, "I understand you completely. I mean like, is this really what they think is affordable? Even if you put something like that on clearance, I still wouldn't be able to buy it without eating for a week." Brightening up, she grinned at the other girl. "Hey, since we're both looking for jackets, do you want to walk around together? Not that you have to, or anything but... I guess I'm feeling a little lonely and want some company."
Good thing you're so cute and I can forgive you. v__vsalylimonNovember 13 2011, 03:18:10 UTC
"He's been gone for over a year now, but his name was Luciano. Brazilian, dork, obnoxiously friendly?" Emi replied, smile taking on an almost fond and nostalgic edge before she laughed. "As long as you're happy, right?" She replied, giving the other woman a reassuring look before she glanced at the store window again.
"I think they're just trying to mock the rest of us by pretending to be fair," She replied before pursing her lips in thought for a brief moment. Eventually, she finally nodded at the other woman's suggestion, expression friendly as she readjusted the bag hanging from her shoulder as she glanced around. "I'd like that," she chirped, lips curling upward once again. "And I've been feeling the same way lately...so company would be nice. Lead the way?"
Luciano? Elizaveta wrinkled her nose before making a squeak of surprise, "Oh, yes! I don't know him, but he left not too long before I came so I've heard lots of rumours about him. Oh, I would've loved to hang out with him, I think." She pursed her lips, sighing. "But this city is really something, isn't it? People come and go as they please, disappearing without a sight and reappearing months later without warning. Ah well, you're right. As long as they're happy."
She smiled back, tilting her head. "Wonderful! Then, I know I'm just dying to go try on some jackets so let's go in there!" They headed for a shop that boasted about clearance items and Elizaveta immediately gravitated to a brown trench coat, biting her lip. She just knew that once she turned the price tag over her dreams would be crushed but... oh, she wouldn't turn it just yet. Let her dream on a little more.

"He was odd, but super sweet and fun," Emiliana admitted with a small smile before pausing, eyebrow raising at Elizaveta's next comment. Giving a small shrug, she made a soft noise of agreement, hands slipping to curl into her coat pockets as they walked. "But, ah, you're right. People do seem to do that a lot here. They either disappear for months and come back, or they just....disappear without much warning and never come back."
There's a sad, almost bitter curl to her lips at that moment, though she instantly wipes it away to flash the other woman a bright smile in response. "That sounds like a good choice. Hopefully the clearance isn't, you know, a lie." Laughing quietly, Emiliana trailed after Elizaveta, giving a soft hum of approval at the jacket the other woman found. "It's nice. How much is it-?"
