Yekaterina hadn't had much free time lately, and because of that, she'd been finding herself bringing home dinner after her late classes instead of actually cooking. It had made her guilty, the inablity to take care of her family members herself weighing down on her shoulders in a way that made her tear up, salty tears rolling down her cheeks, whenever she thought of it. But on her way into town, she just happened by the sign of a grand re-opening of a bookstore.

And an idea struck her, causing the Ukrainian woman to grin ear to ear.

She pulled up her bag further on her shoulder and, without skipping a beat hurried into the bookshop (which already seemed pretty busy!) and waved slightly at the man behind the desk. Katya figured it would be easy enough to find the cooking section, after all, it didn't seem like... too large of a shop- right? Right. Right! She could do this!

After all it wasn't the first bookstore she'd been in. Wandering down one of the isles, her eyes scanned the books quickly. No... no, this definitely wasn't it, this must be the fiction section. Continuing on, she passed through a few more... intimidating sections.

OH HOLY NIGHT AND GOODNESS- What- what was- that?! Katya froze, staring at the imposing doll that was a few shelves above her head, absolutely terrified before finally letting out a squeak and rushing away-

Winding up straight in the cooking section. Well then. As soon as her heart calmed down perhaps she could actually pick out a couple of recipe books to take home.

Abigael had been perusing the cooking section quietly, wondering if Arthur had any books on potatoes or anything remotely Irish and finding herself slightly disappointed in him. But there was an entire book on treacle tart that she could take out... Probably perfect a few this summer. A few that would get her into Arthur's house more often than Sundays.

As she reached up for a book and found it just out of reach, she jumped a foot in the air as a woman rushed into the same aisle as her. Taking a moment to get her breath back, she walked over, putting a hand on her arm. "Are ye alright, missy?"

Starting again as soon as she saw the redhead(?), Katya blinked, blue eyes focusing on the shorter woman and offering a weak smile. "Oh- yes yes... My apologies..." she said, putting a hand over her heart and her other hand pulling up her shoulder bag again. "I was... startled by a doll- I am s-so sorry if I scaring you-" she said quickly, rubbing at her eye.

Katya took a little time to take in the Irish woman's appearance, offering a soft if not a slightly watery smile. No crying in front of strangers, even if her eyes were already uncomfortably warm from the fright.

"S-Sorry. I.. very sorry miss-" she paused, sniffling quietly and offering her hand out for a handshake (that was customary, right?) "I am... Yekaterina- or... just Katya for short."

Abby took the hand shaking it once before rummaging in her bag and pulling out a small tissue, pressing it into the blonde's hand. "Ye poor thing... Are ye sure yer alright? Leave it to me bastard of a brother ta leave the devil's dolls all over the place..." She tugged at her braid, tongue clicking against the back of her teeth.

Realising a moment later that Katya had introduced herself, Abigael gave her a warm smile. "I'm Abigael, but Abby is just fine dovey." Content that she had introduced herself, she turned her attention back to the book, reaching for it, fingers touching the edge of the book as she cursed. "Blast- and leave it to the bleedin' bastard ta make everything for giants!"
