It was starting to become a ritual: he wasn't sure who suggested first tbe idea of walking home together (though it was probably Kai; he was still working on opening the Icelander up to new and potential ways to spend time with each other) but it now occurred with nightly regularity. They'd wait just around the corner from the shop for the other's shift to end, then walk in company together back to the Charleston, catching up on each other's days, making jokes and other such merriment that the two of them enjoyed.

Was it sneaking around? In a way. While there hadn't been opportunities to hang out so often as of recent they did communicate on a routine basis, whether through text, email, the online journals, or at school in passing. This was just another leg of getting to know each other better in the chance -- out of friendship, first and foremost. But also in the case that something more might happen to blossom from things.

Tonight was Kai's turn to wait on Valdi, though with the return of the chairtergeist (even with his brutal massacre of the thing in his wormwood enduced haze) he wouldn't be returning to the Charleston. Their hotel was just down the block from home so it wouldn't be any distance out of his way to see Valdi off.

Once the Icelander exited the shop he raised a hand in greeting from across the way, the corners of his mouth tugging upward in a brilliant smile. "Yo! You got out a bit early, yeah?"
