"Oui- oui coming! Just one moment!" Francis called from the kitchen, stuck juggling dishes and wine classes from the meal he had just served in an attempt to sate Gilbert. He sighed, dropping the dirty dishes into the sink (carefully) and wiped off his hands on his French flag cooking apron. Company did arrive at just the most likely of times didn't it?
Heaving a heavy sigh and a shake of his head, his mind flicked through the different people it could be- Ivan, perhaps... but no. Rory- most definitely not. Perhaps it was Antonio, here to ask for his assistance again or it might also be his prussian roommate having forgotten his key againNeedless, it was still company and, putting on a bright smile, he opened the door

Marie had not seen Francis in more than a year. In that year her life had done little more than flip upside down, leaving someone who was older, deeper, and darker. For the first time in her whole life she was truely alone, running on her own will and what was left of her grandfather's savings. She had decided to take that and come here, a place sure to be her last stop for a long while.
At least it was worth it.
"O-oui," she breathed, her face splitting into a grin. "C'est moi."
Emotions that Francis hadn't felt and memories he hadn't revisited for years suddenly came rushing back, hitting him hard and stunning him for a few more long moments. And then he suddenly couldn't hold it back anymore, a wet feeling building in his throat as he bent down, wrapping his arms around the smaller woman and pulling her tight to his chest. "Marie," he said softly.
"Oh Marie... It is so good to see you again- Oh mon Dieu," he pulled back, just barely, pressing a kiss to her forehead and smiling wetly. "H-How have you been?"
She hugged him back, laughing softly against his chest. "Are you crying?"
"Oh." She breathed out, laying her forhead on his chest again with a small and slightly bitter smile. "That's a long story. But it's good to see you too."
