If Yao's thoughts about the call he got from Thera were to be condensed, it would look something like this:

She's really into this...Should I go?...But work!...Lots of things to do...Need to talk to the herb suppliers...Blind date?...What if the person's dangerous?...Oh fine why not...Let's get this over with...--!!!

Yao was looking left and right, trying to find signs of his 'date'.The widescreen displayed some mandatory trailers before the movie which, thank god, calmed him down in the form of Yao slouching on his seat. He did notice a lot of children with their parents and a few teenagers go in the theater with him...

Is his blind date a... a person way younger than him?!? 天啊. Can't be ( ... )

Kiku tried to quell the nervousness that was threatening to bubble out of him. This was such a public setting...but it was dark and quiet. He'd not have to really say a word when he first met Jet...and they'd have the movie in common directly afterwards for a conversation starter. Whoever this person was, it seemed they had done some research on him.

Aside from the fact that he especially valued punctuality.

The trailers were almost over, and there was still no sign of his mystery date. In fact, the only seat nearby that was taken was...Yao, next to him. Really, it would be embarrassing for him to be seen on a blind date, but it wasn't exactly like he could request for him to move. Besides, the guy looked similarly nervous to himself at the moment. Maybe he was also waiting on a date.

. . . . . .

Oh god no!

Yao kept ataring at the seat to his right and did not dare move his pupils to the left, however his peripheral vision betrays him. Should he try and ask Kiku if he was his- Yao stopped the thought. That would be embarrassing! What if he wasn't the blind date and that he just sat on the wrong seat? Maybe he was in the wrong theater? Or perhaps Yao was misinformed? (then again, there wasn't much information to go around concerning this 'date') Oh the many possibilities of something going right to go wrong...

He only had a second to check the assigned seat printed in big bold letters on his ticket before the movie began. Yao sunk in his seat when he saw the title.

Thera told him he and his date were going to see 'Tangled'. Lo and behold, 'Tangled' was the title. Curse his luck, or perhaps he was lucky. He knew who his date was...but...er...

"You've got to be kidding me Thera," Yao murmured to himself.

Awkward by any other name... mystiklsushi December 16 2010, 16:11:30 UTC
Kiku held onto the edge of his seat, knuckles going white as he tried to keep himself from thinking the thoughts that were coming into his head.

There had been a mistake.

Because Yao had not made an eHarmony profile under the Alias of Jet Chen in order to trick him into dinner and a movie because he'd been admiring him from afar. Because he'd never really actually met Yao in person, aside from once or twice in passing. Because they only really knew of one another through stories told by Mei and by Kim and by Yong Soo.

There had to have been a mistake.Likely, he was just in the wrong seat. Or Yao was in the wrong seat. Or he was in the wrong theater. Or this was all a bad dream and he needed to stop watching so much shoujo anime ( ... )

He wasn't the only one trapped here.

There were no words as to how weird and totally uncalled for this situation was. Yao knew he shouldn't trust strangers, well, acquaintances to be exact. He wonders where his "Oh hey let's be chummy to the person and figure out where to go from there" fighting spirit went to.

In and out of the theater, like a kid with uncontrollable bladder issues, that's where. It might come back, it might not.

"Being unprepared like this comes with the perks of life. But, seriously. Seriously. This is why I hate blind dates," Yao mused, tapping his fingers on the left armrest. He could hear his appendages hit the lacquered bar of wood despite the sounds coming from the speakers surrounding the theater.

Just focus on the movie, Yao. You can tell Thera the date had an errand to run and couldn't make it to dinner. Focus. Focus.

When his eyes were slowly getting used to just staring at the screen, Yao's throat made a nuisance out of itself and made him cough.

No. No. No.

He was too busy concentrating on a way to escape from the center of the row without bothering the people around him (it would be impossible at all angles he could see) to pay attention to the movie. But with all things considered, it looked like he was really and truly trapped here until the credits rolled.

As he was starting to play with the idea of crawling across the sticky soda and candy coated floor, Yao began coughing.

With a sigh, he shuffled through his carry-bag (which the girls at the cafe had affectionately dubbed a man-purse) for a throat lozenge, which he handed to his...date....without a word.

And without a word, he accepted the cough drop, like he was expecting someone, preferably his seatmate that can't possibly be his date. No, he wasn't over this denial fit and he will keep denying until....until...until what exactly was he waiting for? Someone to politely correct Kiku that he was on the wrong seat and get on with this date. But thirty minutes in to the movie and no such event happened.

Was he doomed to spend the night with someone he only knows through stories and few wordless meetings?

The lozenge dissolved with many a lick and he can feel the effects. Clearing his throat, He dared face left and uttered "Thanks." If he was doomed, well karma, bring him some good after this!

Kiku merely nodded in response, partially because it was rude to talk in a movie theater, and partially because he was still having trouble forming coherent non-escape-related thoughts.

The only clear thought ringing in his mind was that he was sitting next to a possible obsessive stalker, and that he'd possibly just given a cough drop to a person who was willing to make up an online alias in order to get close to him even though he was positive they had barely uttered more than three words each in the other's presence.

Four counting that last gratitude.

Any more thoughts on the subject and he'd have to borrow someone's popcorn bag for hyperventilation.

Forget not asking Thera how she got Kiku to accept this meet-up, he should immediately find that woman and demand a valid coherent reason for this match. Of course he thinks Kiku is overthinking this situation, but so was he. In fact, he was making this a problem that should not be. This amount of stress would only lead him to more stress and wrinkles, which was not good(in the aging sense, mind you people that think he's girly!). Yao gulped in frustration.

"Hey.... So, do you like Disney?"

It was unbearable, to keep his calm from tearing and keeping eye on just one direction for two hours max. And yes he twisted his head to the left by just a few inches to hint that he was talking to Kiku. It had to be done.
