I'm guessing just Liz and Gupta playing dress up for now? (Also, awesome description for the log. XD bornofisis September 19 2010, 04:29:19 UTC
Gupta realized, albeit a little too late, that he never gave Liz his address. Despite this huge setback, she clearly had no problem finding him because she was already at their front door. Blinking in confusion but shrugging it off, the Egyptian opened the door and bowed his head respectfully to her. "Hello," he said quietly, stepping aside to let her in. Anubis lifted his head from the sofa and sniffed in Liz's general direction with curiosity, then set his head back down and went back to sleep once he smelled nothing out of the ordinary.

Closing the door behind Liz, Gupta looked down at himself, dressed in (what he considered) a plain pair of pants and a T-shirt that looked a bit too large for him (probably given out by the university). "What... exactly should I wear to this... 'bar'?" He didn't show it on his otherwise passive face, but he was a bit nervous. He didn't know that asking about such a bar would illicit such strong responses from so many people and prompt his mother to buy him a taser, of all things.

Blinking, Elizaveta found that Gupta was a lot like what she had imagined him being. A little short, shy, but very cute. She grinned. "It's a nice place you have here, Gupta. Thanks for letting me in!"

Looking him over once, she bit her lip. "Well, let me have a look at your closet first. You're a bit too casual, and you look kind of underage. Don't worry, I'll find you something." She looked out the window and frowned. God only knew what Sadiq would show up wearing.

Gupta smiled faintly, a gesture that was more visible around his eyes than around his mouth. "Thank you. My mother bought this apartment." He spoke slowly and with a noticeable accent, but he was already much faster at speaking English than he had been a short three months ago ( ... )

Noticing his embarrassment, Elizaveta tried to resist the urge to take pictures. He was just too cute! It was unbearable, really. Following behind him to his room, she chuckled to herself. Yes, this was really going to be interesting. Maybe she'd even have more fun than she thought she would ( ... )

Gupta feels very mothered now. XD bornofisis September 19 2010, 05:15:49 UTC
"Ah... Yes, in a way," Gupta said shortly, not wanting to explain just how wealthy his mother was. He watched her with wide, confused eyes as she began flipping through his clothes like an expert, sometimes taking down an item, other times studying a set of clothes with abject scrutiny before shoving it aside.

Blinking, Gupta took the offered items and silently shuffled to the bathroom to change. When he stepped out, he looked at himself with a little bit of surprise. He wore dark skinny jeans with a partially-opened white shirt and a black vest. The outfit wasn't over-the-top, but there was something playful and mature about it as well.

Looking up at the girl, Gupta nodded. "I like it," he said, admiring himself in the mirror. He didn't wear a vest often because he thought they were too easily dirtied at school, but this particular one did a great job of hugging to his tin waist and his lean back. "This is not too... formal?" he asked Liz over his shoulder.

It's very fun to mother him, I assure you. XD lizzypan September 19 2010, 18:54:30 UTC
While Gupta was changing, Elizaveta looked around the room nonchalantly. Her eyes fell on the vanity in the corner and her eyes practically shone. Was that... make-up she saw? With earrings? A face-splitting grin covered her face. This was going to be far more interesting than what she'd ever have hoped.

"Oh my god," she paused in her thinking as Gupta came out. "It's just what I imagined. You look amazing, Gupta! These kinds of clothes really suit you." Looking him over, she nodded and grinned. "Yes, you look fine. Not too formal indeed."

Slowly walking towards him, she patted him on the head fondly. "Now, explain to me why you have make-up in your room." Looking closer, she saw two tiny holes in each of his ears. She tried not to squeal. This was better than playing dress-up with toys.

Gupta dipped his chin again to give a shy smile, pleased at her praise. He fiddled nervously with the edge of his collar (she gave it to him opened, so he supposed it was supposed to be this way, but did he really have to show that much of his collarbone?) as she approached. Blinking, the Egyptian glanced at his dresser gave a shrug at the question as if the amount of jewelry and makeup on it was nothing out of the ordinary.

"I learned from my mother," he says simply, without shame. He watched her carefully though, as if afraid that he had broken some rule. "Wearing makeup is... a very old Egyptian tradition."

"Ah, is that so?" She was liking this lady more and more. She'd really have to meet her someday. Pausing at the vanity, she took a closer look at the stuff splayed about and carefully picked up a small pair of gold hoops. "Do you want to try these on for me?" She smiled, holding them out, "I don't have my ears pierced, but I think earrings are lovely."

Inspecting him, she tilted her head. "Let me see..." using one hand to close the shirt collar, she frowned. "You can close more buttons if you'd like, but not all the way up. Right now you're maybe a bit too exposed, but if you close up too many you'll look like a prude."

Nodding at her judgement, she patted the vanity fondly. "It's going to be a fun night, I can tell."

We totally need to get her ears pierced. <3 bornofisis September 22 2010, 03:11:24 UTC
Gupta nods and takes the earrings, slipping them on easily. "Earrings are pretty," he agrees, and makes a mental note to ask his mother to help this girl get her ears pierced. Earrings looked fantastic on men, but Gupta believed that they should be a staple on women! The boy watches as she gestures to his shirt and lets out a small sight of relief as he begins to button it back up. He pauses halfway and tilts his head in confusion. "What's a 'prude'?" He was sure that was a type of fruit... right?

Blinking in surprise as she happily surveys the rest of his vanity, the Egyptian gave a tiny smile. "I hope so." He gestures to his eyelids. "What color should I use?"

Elizaveta laughed, tilting her head back and holding her stomach. She didn't really know what it was that made this Gupta boy so easy to get along with, but she sure liked him. "A prude is a stuck-up, stiff sort of a man. Or a woman, really. You could say that Sadiq is a prude." She smiled mischievously. "In fact, why don't you call him that? It's also a sign of close-ness."

She looked at him, and then back at the vanity. "Dark-ish blue."

Gupta's eyes crossed slightly as he thought this over, confused as to why she was so amused. "Sadiq is a prude?" He thought about this for a few seconds, then scratched the back of his neck in confusion. "I... suppose so... I do not know him very well." Sadiq was loud and scared of snakes, but did that make him stuck-up? Gupta decided that he needed to investigate this matter further.

Not commenting on the matter any further, he sat at the vanity (feeling rather like a puppy obeying a master's command) and picked up a dark, rich blue with a brilliant shine to it. He applied it expertly with the skill of any girl, and by the time he was done, he had a smokey, winged halo around his brilliant gold eyes. He nodded, pleased with the color. "Is this okay?"

"Yes, Sadiq is a prude." She nodded further to prove this point. "Try it, really. And if he takes it the wrong way, just tell him that I said it, alright?" She smiled thinly. Spreading bad gossip about people wasn't something only Sadiq could do. She'd purify his mind again.

Watching in amazement, Elizaveta could only sigh. Even a boy was better at make-up than her. What was the world coming to? "It looks gorgeous, dear. Why don't you fill in whatever else that you think you'll need? I'm not nearly as good with all that shadowing stuff as you are."

(ooc: Shall we bring in Sadiq now~?)

Phhhht wonderful nicknames! bornofisis September 23 2010, 04:41:39 UTC
Gupta nodded, although he felt like it wouldn't be a good thing to call Sadiq a prude in public. There was just no way to bring that into a polite conversation. Or...maybe he could, he didn't know. English was a strange language.

He silently did as he was told, expertly lining his eyes with gold eyeliner and winging out the sides in the classically Egyptian way. On other people, this sort of get up would look ridiculous, but with his tanned skin and catlike eyes, Gupta seemed very comfortable with such heavy makeup on. He smiled up at Liz once he was done. "When will Sadiq come?"

Did someone call for a Sadiq? turkishsurprise September 24 2010, 00:51:53 UTC
The ride from his downtown apartment to the finer Vichy condos took longer than he would have liked. He did take a taxi to save himself the frustration of dealing with other drivers, something he never has or ever will have the patience for. Just looking out the window while his own driver swerved through traffic made him grip the goddamn armrest and press on the invisible brakes. Sadiq was just an awful passenger, and quite the backseat driver -- even though he would be doing a much worse job. And road rage was only part of the problem, surely ( ... )

"I don't know." Elizaveta replied, frowning. "Hopefully never." Still, she was rather in awe of Gupta's skills in the cosmetics department. She would have to hit him up for some tips later. Oh, this was going to be an awesome friendship indeed.

However, all good things had to come to an end. And she knew this was that moment when she heard the faint knocking. She tried not to visibly deflate. "Well... I guess we can't all get what we want, hm?" She smiled to Gupta and walked out of the room and towards the front door. Without bothering to ask if it was okay to open it, she unlocked the various locks and opened it just enough to peer out. She gaped.

"Sadiq? What the hell are you wearing?" It killed her to admit it, but she grudgingly looked him up and down and said, "You look... good."

Works for me! And I swear I had to look up this Arabic greeting haha. bornofisis September 25 2010, 01:15:29 UTC
Gupta may be dense at times, but he was clearly getting the distinct feeling that Liz didn't like Sadiq much. Unless that was sarcasm --he honesty didn't know. Still, the boy remained quiet until the knock, then followed the girl to the door, amused at her forwardness. He didn't mind, but there was something about this girl that reminded him of his extremely forward, sometimes aggressive mother.

Peeking over Liz's shoulder, Gupta lit up at the sight of Sadiq. He had gotten all dressed-up too, and looked incredibly different from the casual mess that he normally was. "Welcome," he greeted politely, confused by Liz's question and sudden compliment. "You look very handsome," he added, meaning it.

Pulling the door open to let the other man in, the Arab clasped the other's hand and stood on tip-toe to kiss the other's cheeks gently. The traditional greeting was more formal than normal, but then again, Gupta was usually painfully shy and polite around strangers.
