Did someone call for a Sadiq? turkishsurprise September 24 2010, 00:51:53 UTC
The ride from his downtown apartment to the finer Vichy condos took longer than he would have liked. He did take a taxi to save himself the frustration of dealing with other drivers, something he never has or ever will have the patience for. Just looking out the window while his own driver swerved through traffic made him grip the goddamn armrest and press on the invisible brakes. Sadiq was just an awful passenger, and quite the backseat driver -- even though he would be doing a much worse job. And road rage was only part of the problem, surely.

As soon as the cab pulled up to the condo, Sadiq gave the driver a tip and asked him to wait. It was a rare occasion for him to bother with his clothing choices, changing from his usual shorts and t-shirt to something a little less casual. As he stepped out of the cab and fixed his scarf, he remembered why he found dressing up to be a pain. It was such a fussy ordeal; making sure his shirt was ironed, and jacket free of lint. He didn't think he was overdressed for a night at the club, but Sadiq wouldn't particularly care either way. At least he didn't force himself into wearing a tie.

The heels of his flat shoes clicked against a brick sidewalk as he made his way into the building. It was so much larger than the apartment he resided in himself, and the Vicky's walls also appeared clean and free of suspicious markings. The carpet was vacuumed. There was even the faint smell of chlorine, probably from an indoor pool somewhere in the vicinity (and if that was the case, he would definitely be visiting Gupta more often). As Sadiq climbed the stairs, he couldn't help but wonder vaguely if he was given the right address.

It was only two flights of stairs before Sadiq found the room number he had been looking for, and after a moment's hesitation, the man rapped his knuckles gruffly against the wood. It was too late to back out of a trip to the gay bar at this point, and he didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings for not showing up. More precisely, he didn't want to hurt Gupta's feelings -- he cared less about Elizaveta's.

And so he waited outside the door, putting one hand in the pocket of his black trousers while the other reached up to make sure his hat was secure. His nice fez. He couldn't have a finished look without that and his white mask.

((ooc: I was more or less imagining the suit Sadiq's wearing in this link.))

"I don't know." Elizaveta replied, frowning. "Hopefully never." Still, she was rather in awe of Gupta's skills in the cosmetics department. She would have to hit him up for some tips later. Oh, this was going to be an awesome friendship indeed.

However, all good things had to come to an end. And she knew this was that moment when she heard the faint knocking. She tried not to visibly deflate. "Well... I guess we can't all get what we want, hm?" She smiled to Gupta and walked out of the room and towards the front door. Without bothering to ask if it was okay to open it, she unlocked the various locks and opened it just enough to peer out. She gaped.

"Sadiq? What the hell are you wearing?" It killed her to admit it, but she grudgingly looked him up and down and said, "You look... good."

Works for me! And I swear I had to look up this Arabic greeting haha. bornofisis September 25 2010, 01:15:29 UTC
Gupta may be dense at times, but he was clearly getting the distinct feeling that Liz didn't like Sadiq much. Unless that was sarcasm --he honesty didn't know. Still, the boy remained quiet until the knock, then followed the girl to the door, amused at her forwardness. He didn't mind, but there was something about this girl that reminded him of his extremely forward, sometimes aggressive mother.

Peeking over Liz's shoulder, Gupta lit up at the sight of Sadiq. He had gotten all dressed-up too, and looked incredibly different from the casual mess that he normally was. "Welcome," he greeted politely, confused by Liz's question and sudden compliment. "You look very handsome," he added, meaning it.

Pulling the door open to let the other man in, the Arab clasped the other's hand and stood on tip-toe to kiss the other's cheeks gently. The traditional greeting was more formal than normal, but then again, Gupta was usually painfully shy and polite around strangers.

It was hard to contain his smug smile as Elizaveta's eyes widened, taking his appearance in from head to toe. He was mentally daring her to throw the usual insults at him; is he still fat, ugly, and hairy, Elizaveta? Hm? His chin was still as stubbly as it always was, but at least it was more or less trimmed for tonight. Instead of tease -- his usual response to these sorts of situations -- he offered a short, "Thanks."

The reply was for both of the staring individuals, smirking specifically at the Hungarian, before he arrogantly stepped into the flat. Someone here had one inflated ego, and it certainly wasn't Gupta or Elizaveta. Unfortunately, as he turned around and opened his mouth to properly greet his escort, he was surprised to see himself presented with a different sort of appreciation. That is, a chaste kiss on the cheek, lips just barely brushing over his skin -- and nothing could help his reddening face now.

"S-Save that for guys at the bar! I'm not into that gay stuff, man." It didn't really strike him that this was some sort of greeting, considering most Europeans did that whole kissing thing. He's been living in America for way too long, and people just didn't do that here. Sadiq stepped backwards anyway, successfully bumping into a thin table and knocking over the potted plant that had been neatly placed on top. He was beyond flustered. "Shit!"

So much for being charming and suave. "Can we just get going?"

Elizaveta tried not to snort as Gupta said his own input. She was too busy scowling at that horrible smirk Sadiq was wearing. Jesus Christ, one small little compliment and his head blew up to the size of Jupiter. She scowled again.

About to turn and walk back, she froze in her tracks as Gupta grabbed onto Sadiq's face. Her hands found themselves locked together in front of her chest. This. This was just the best. Oh my god. She had to force herself not to burst out into laughter as Sadiq reddened like a tomato. "G-Gupta?" She started, not hiding the amusement in his voice. "Is that how you greet people in Egypt?"

Laughing at Sadiq, she gave him a little smirk. "For someone who's not into 'that gay stuff' you sure seem excited about going to Chueca, Turk." She winked. "Just to warn you though... Gupta never greeted me with a kiss."

Grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder, she smiled at Gupta. "Whenever you're ready."

Gupta froze and stepped back as well, clearly worried that he had upset his guest. Sadiq's reaction was abnormal to him to say the least, but why was he suddenly being called gay? That wasn't very polite, was it? Brow furrowed, the Egyptian quickly hid his hands behind his back like a child that had done something wrong. "I am sorry," he murmured, eyes downcast. He nodded at Liz's question, then quietly explained, "It is how we greet men in my country. It is not polite to kiss women public."

He picked up his bag as well, but he had an injured air around him rather like a kicked puppy. He went to follow Liz, but turned to Sadiq again and bowed his head. "I will not do it again," he promised quietly.

"Oh shaddap!" He shot Elizabveta one sharp glare, expressing a certain dislike towards that impish grin she was now sporting. One kiss on the cheek, and she was all sorts of pleased, eh? Unfortunately, Sadiq didn't appreciate the whole scenario nearly as much as the little girl-thing, and his mood had been shot to hell and back. The older man wasn't really so mad at Gupta per se, but more at himself for giving Elizaveta the pleasure of witnessing his discomfort. His poor pride just couldn't handle it.

An eyebrow twitched at Gupta's quiet apology, and without turning to look at him, Sadiq muttered a quick, "S'fine. Don't worry 'bout it." If his words came out as curt or angry, it wasn't intentional. Still looking very much unhappy, he motioned to the door, "Let's just go already."

((ooc: Was going to timetravel to the bar, but didn't know if anyone else had input to add first xD;))

Elizaveta felt her heart melt as Gupta visibly deflated from Sadiq's nasty comments. Then, just as she was about to cradle him in her arms and pet his hair, she turned on her heel sharply and glared up at Sadiq. "What's wrong with you?" She hissed, purposefully edging past him so she could stand in front of the two. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and glared up at him. "Hey, mister manly man. Not everyone is as stone-cold as you, alright? Poor Gupta deserves an apology, don't you think?" she poked him in the chest. "And it better be a good one."

Whirling around (and hitting Sadiq in the neck with her hair), she opened the door wider and marched out down the steps. Standing in front of the house, she put her hands on her hips. "I know that men simply can't show their 'weaknesses' against women, so I'll be right here. Now you apologize to Gupta, y'hear? Look at the poor boy. he looks devastated!" Her shoes click-clacked as she turned around. "We're not leaving until you do it, Sadiq."

"And don't shy away from it, Gupta. You deserve it." She added, predicting what the Egyptian boy would say.

This time, it was Gupta's turn to be fustered. He gulped and stared awkwardly as Liz gave Sadiq a verbal thrashing, then immediately told HIM that he was not to protest against an apology. Mouth already open to say that everything was well and forgotten, the Egyptian shut up instantly and cowered a little against the woman's sheer...forwardness. Yes, this one was veeeery much like this mother. Thankfully, neither of them have ever yelled at HIM like that, but he wasn't one to overlook that temper.

Fighting the urge to look for a fast escape, the boy forced himself to stand still and bit his lower cheek, waiting.

Sadiq was not expecting this to happen. He reeled back a little as Elizaveta suddenly turned on the defensive, her voice rising as she poked him square in the chest, plainly demanding an apology. Was he to feel guilty, or baffled? Sadiq hadn't realized that he did something wrong to Gupta, being the one who had received that kiss and everything. The stubborn half of his mind was totally not understanding Lizzy's sudden PMS-ing state... And why she was storming out into the hallways.

His cheeks were feeling warm again, and he curiously glanced over to Gupta to see that even his new Egyptian friend had turned quiet. He looked so... awkward. Stupid Veta had made the whole situation worse. Fucking women and their need to make the world rainbows and butterflies; this was why cat fights always ended so much more nasty than anything a guy could get into.

With one final scowl in Lizzy's direction, Sadiq turned back to Gupta. Clearly the older man wasn't comfortable, but he hid it behind a rather passive wall. The only hint was possibly the way that he was suddenly fiddling with the cuffs of his jacket. "Sorry."

It was unbearably awkward.

Elizaveta, pleased, clapped her hands together. "There, now was that so hard?" She frowned, waving her hand dismissively, "Wait, don't answer that. I don't need your sarcasm, Sadiq." Smiling pleasantly, she rocked on her heels in the middle of the hallway, waiting for the two.

"Well, we might as well get going then, shall we? Do we need to get a cab, or do you have a ride?" She asked Sadiq, feeling better all of a sudden. Yes, clubbing made everything better. Even spending time with bitter Turkish men. She looked at her watch. And they were just in time, too.

"Come on, Gupta, let's go experience something new!" She beckoned, totally ignoring the other man.

Gupta was silent for a long, long time, but then there was a sudden strain on his face like... well, like he was fighting laughter. Biting the inside of his cheek until it hurt, the Egyptian gave a quick nod and (what he hoped was) a small smile. "Y-You are forgiven," he stammered, finding it inexplicably cute and adorable that Sadiq was fingering his cuff like a nervous child whom was about to receive a beating. Who knew that such a big man could be so timid, or could be put in his place by such a lovely lady?

Suddenly feeling very entertained about the whole situation, the Egyptian turned and followed Liz obediently. Her excitement was contagious, and he found his own nerves buzzing with anticipation as they headed down the stairs and outside to...

The taxi?

Gupta blinked at it. I didn't call a taxi. "Liz?" He looked at her, then slowly turned back to Sadiq. He suddenly felt somewhat embarassed, like he had been a bad host. "S-Sadiq?"

Sadiq wasn't sure what to think of Gupta's expression as he was forgiven. The corner of his lip had twitched into a microscopic smile as the words were stammered out, two golden iris's bright with amusement. Was the stoic guy possibly holding back laughter? His own brow twitched as Gupta followed Elizaveta to the front door, and it took Sadiq a few seconds to grudgingly do the same. Was his apology funny? He didn't recall anything that would result in two amused girls frolicking down the stairs hand and hand (only a small exaggeration, really).

The taxi was still parked patiently outside as they reached the front steps, and Sadiq clicked his tongue in vague satisfaction. At least some people around here didn't take him lightly. As Gupta muttered his name quietly, he couldn't help but grin, "Eh, I had to have gotten here somehow, and I sure as hell ain't driving."

He made his way past both Lizzy and Gupta, and gingerly opened the door for them both. Complete with a suave smile and a hand beckoning them inside, he filled the roll as an escort quite well, if only as a playful act. "Ladies first." By that he meant Gupta. Lizzy still wasn't a lady to Sadiq.

Unaware of the current bonding moment behind her, Elizaveta was almost impressed to see the taxi outside the apartment. Smiling wider, she waved to the taxi driver. "Thirty-six and still car-less," she muttered while still smiling. "Tsk tsk tsk."

Sliding into the cab, Elizaveta gently tugged on Gupta's sleeve for him to follow. There was no way in hell was she sitting next to Sadiq, and besides, she still needed to bond more with Gupta. Once the door was shut closed, she craned her neck to peer at the drivers name tag and credentials. "Jimmy, right? Bring us to Chueca, please." The driver tipped his hat and started to drive, leaving Elizaveta with nothing to do but sit still and smile.

"Are you excited?" She asked Gupta.

Sadiq is 36 years old? Gupta's surprise at this revelation (Sadiq certainly ACTED younger) was cut short when Liz pulled him into the car. Sitting carefully in the middle of the backseat, the Egyptian boy blinked at the question and looked down at his hands, fighting the urge to figit. "A little... nervous," he admitted truthfully. "Thank you both for coming with me," he said hesitantly, meaning it.

Sadiq chose not to sit in the backseat with the other two. Instead, he closed the door behind Gupta as the boy scrambled in, and took up the passenger seat without question. It was easy to allow Lizzy to give the driver their directions - he certainly didn't know where this bar was, nor had he ever really hoped to find out. However, Lizzy had to go and run her mouth again, bringing up an assumption that he didn't have a car. Oh, it was just a touch annoying. Not everyone was fit for city-driving, which was why his was more than often parked in the lot. He didn't bother to correct the brat regardless, as it wasn't worth the effort.

The Chueca (did that word stand for something?) didn't take that long of a drive, not that Gupta and Elizaveta didn't keep themselves occupied with small chat in the backseat anyway. Sadiq hardly paid them any attention, choosing instead to listen to the dull pop music playing on the radio and the hum of voices behind him. He had actually leaned his head back against the headrest and allowed his eyes to fall shut.

... To the point that he had dozed off into a light sleep by the time they pulled up to the club.
