WHO: Emiliana and Loto (open for others later?) WHEN: July 10th, Saturday morning WHERE: Liberty Zoo WHAT: Belated birthday present turned awkward outing. What more could you ask for?
Loto had been right there, right there, rambling away about the exhibits he wanted to see when, well, when he suddenly vanished.
Elbowing the pot-bellied man that had obscured her vision, Emi began to hurriedly zig-zag through the crowd, frantically looking around in hopes of spotting the awkward teen. Was he by the flamingo exhibit, perhaps-? Nothing.
Mierda.
Teeth worrying her bottom lip, she slip through the crowd in order to make her way toward the lone bench she had instead spotted. Should she...? Maybe? No? Oh, fuck it.
A quick glance. Good, no one was really looking in her general direction, so maybe she could do this without looking too insane. Hopefully.
Stepping on top of the green, wooden bench, Emi strained her neck, hoping to catch a glimpse of...Lotos' face as he was on the verge of tears. Oh, fantastic.
One quick hop later and Emi began to unintentionally shove her way through the crowd in order to reach the poor boy. Whom just happened to be ready to run off crying walk away. Fuck. With a sprint, she reached out to grab his arm, tugging him back to brush against her as she panted out, "L-Loto! W-What the hell...why'd you wander away?!"
"Emi!" he cried grappling Emiliana into a bear hug the second he grasped it was the true blue Emi. "I'm sorry!"
"I got too excited, my feet were movin' on their own..." Trying to wipe away the tears that had formed in his eyes discreetly, he apologized a few more times just for good measure.
He hadn't counted on there being so many people at a zoo and heck he really didn't think there'd be that many short ladies to pick and choose out of a crowd. But it seemed like short mothers and their pack of wild youngins' was common around these parts...
Now fearful of the shifting crowds of people Loto began to stick closer to Emi, wrapping part of his arm around hers. No way is he getting lost again, nu uh, no way!
"Hey Emi, " he pondered, "whats a marsupial anyhoo ?"
A startled gasp was all the noise Emi could make as she was suddenly pulled flush against Loto's lanky form.
His tears, however, stopped her from scowling up at the poor boy in annoyance. Dios. Sighing, she patted him on the arm gently as soon as he pulled away to hastily wipe his eyes while stumbling to apologize to her. Ay, this kid...
"It's fine. Don't worry about it, querido," Emi replied, smiling faintly as he locked his arm around hers. And like that, they continued walking, unperturbed.
"...whats a marsupial anyhoo?"
Blinking, she glanced up at him. "Er, a marsupial? It's uhm..." She paused. "It's...an animal - a mammal, really - that usually carries it's young in pouches." Emi responded, absently motioning to her middle for emphasis.

"Pocket babies eh?" he pondered the thought as it ping-ponged across the neuro-circuits of his brain, a brilliant joke could surely appear from the topic. The entrance to the exhibit had Loto tilting his head back in awe, the tall plastic molded eucalyptus trees were painted and carved into various koalas and their young huddling onto the trunks, it was like nothing he had ever seen before. Which, really wasn't saying much as Loto is still rather new to "city-living."
Loto was already in awe of the entrance but the moment they stepped into the actual exhibit his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. Past those molded figures was a wooden tiki trail barring the non-inhabitants (humans) from the mesmerizing display of fauna and flora that seemed to have just sprung up suddenly! It was incredibly different from the outside walkways of the zoo.
The inhabitants of the exhibit were sometimes hard to make out, using their environment to their advantage, but other areas of the exhibit separated easier to spot animals such as wallabies and 'roos, even a glass display for pigy possums!. Loto was immediately drawn to the hiding koalas, making it a kind of game to try and count every single one of them, no matter how strategically camouflaged they were.
"I think Logan mentioned he's got one of those cute buggers right?" he pointed as he continued to eye around the trees, moving back and forth along the trail to try and get a clearer viewing angle. So far he'd counted around 5 koalas...
"A koala?" Emi asked, leaning against the metal handrail as she strained to catch sight of more. "I...actually wouldn't put it past him, really."
Moving away to skim at the now wrinkled map, she glanced up at the distracted teen with a raised brow. "Loto," she started, tapping his arm lightly. "Do you want to keep walking after this or do you want to break for lunch?"
...an expensive lunch of crappy American food, no doubt.
