Well, that hadn’t gone at all like he had wanted but that was to be expected especially with the Turk before him. That’s was fine though, there were other means of causing the other the outmost discomfort possible. Heracles had to force back a frown as he gave the other a smile. “No, no, that’s fine. I’ll just continue looking for things on my own.”
With this he could take as much time as he wanted. Although, the faster he got out of this grocery store the better he would feel since being in Sadiq’s presence for longer than necessary took a toll on any sane human being. He really did have to bite back a few retorts. This guy was the only person to get him so angry so easily. Heracles hated that especially since the Turk had such a hold on him.
Regardless, Heracles knew he had one attribute when it came to encounters with this old man and that was his restrain from doing things deemed too unacceptable. Grabbing one of the shopping baskets Heracles turned away from Sadiq with a roll of his eyes as he continued searching for a list of things that he really didn’t need.
He browsed through every single aisle twice. He picked up several products, read the labels, thought about it and put it back. Heracles gaze strayed over to the merchant counter before shrugging and trailing all the way to the back of the store where the sweets were located. He didn’t have that big of a sweet tooth but baklava was just something he couldn’t resist whether it was Turkish or Greek.
Unfortunately all the treats where located behind a display window and needed the sales clerk assistance. Heracles sighed. He really didn’t want too but...the baklava did look really good...NO! Talking to Sadiq was out of the question. Maybe if he just stood here for a while his need to purchase the Baklava would pass. Yeah right....
With each passing moment Sadiq's irritation grew, and he wanted nothing more than to just scream at Heracles to either hurry it up or get the hell out. His only respite from paying attention to him was when the other customer in the shop came up to purchase their items and he had to instead focus on figuring out why the hell the ice cream wasn't scanning correctly. Afterwards, his eyes were back on Heracles, trained solely on the Grecian as he meandered through the aisles. Twice. The asshole. Sadiq made a quiet 'harumph' sound in the back of his throat.
Finally Heracles came to a stop in front of the sweets display case, and Sadiq couldn't help but notice Heracle's longing look at the baklava. Well, it would require his assistance, which he didn't plan on giving him any time soon. Maybe, if he waited long enough, Heracles would move on.
So he waited. And waited some more. And then waited even longer. Still, the Grecian remained standing by the locked sweets case without any sign that he was going to abandon it soon.
With an annoyed sigh, he came out from behind the sales counter and marched over there, keys jangling in his hand. Keeping his sights straight ahead without looking at Heracles, he jammed the key into the lock with more force than necessary, turning it roughly and popping the lid open. Grabbing the baklava that had been eyed for some time now, he turned to Heracles, and, surprisingly, placed it delicately into his hands, as if he harbored no hatred for him.
"Will that be all, sir? Would you like to purchase your things now?" Please Allah, Sadiq prayed, Let it be all that he needs so he can leave me alone.
Heracles was startled by the Sadiq’s appearance and gentle care of the sweets he had been staring out. It was surprising that the man had even known the pastry he had been looking at without even asking him. But, he was grateful, or as much as one could be with someone’s long lost Turkish enemy that he didn’t say anything rude as it was delicately placed into his hands.
Heracles glanced up from the box of sweet and stared up at Sadiq for a few seconds in mild surprise before nodding his head in thanks. With this, he definitely had more than he came here for and it was probably best he leave before he bought anymore things he didn’t really need.
“Yeah, that would be nice.” He murmured his attention returning to the Backlava as he turned away from the sweets showcase and made his way to the till. The Greek began to slowly lay down all his items on the counter but remained silent. There really wasn’t much he wanted to say to the taller man and his contempt had died down considerably since arriving.
All he really wanted was to pay for his items and go home and take a nap. That or explore a few more streets before wandering home.
