Who: Remy, Moon, and three faceless, unimportant college buddies. 'Cause the world needs extras.
Where: The Wilderness of Liberty's mountains
When: Wednesday afternoon, 5/26
What: Braving the wilds. Sort of.
Although she’d always preferred the smell of sunscreen to that of bug-spray, Remy was a complete sucker for a roasted marshmallow. That and the offshore storm that made it too dangerous to surf (according to the lifeguards, or whoever it was that managed the flags.) were the only reasons Remy’s friends had managed to drag her away from the beach and out into the wilderness.
It had been pretty fun so far, she had to admit. Turns out, SUV’s really were good for traipsing through the mountains, and it was only a short hike from the designated parking area to a perfect little clearing.
It turned out that Paul and Cory were useless at setting campfires, but Remy had always been pretty good with matches. She and Westley, Paul’s sister, had banished the boys to manning the charcoal grill they’d brought along for making hamburgers, while the girls got a nice little blaze going. No trip that involved playing with fire was ever a complete waste to Remy’s way of thinking.
