Like that title? k, dumb.
I blocked kip's scarf last night on a huge bulletin board that I got from my Dad's office - it really works nicely.
I took that above picture when we were on Whidbey Island, WA. It was of a tiny artsy knitting shop. Now that I am into knitting, I'd LOVE to go back and REALLY check it out .
On with Blocking....
I put some plastic garbage bags down on the board so the water wouldn’t warp it. I probably used way too many T-pins to hold this puppy in shape--but I wanted to get out those wavy edges. It’s not dry yet. Kip can wear it just in time for a cold snap that is supposed to hit us tomorrow night. It's gonna be in the 20's they say at night (that's cold for the Sacramento Valley) HE BETTER WEAR IT!! ;)
Note: The yarn is Schachenmayr Ego Tweed- Color 83

Well, it's my third knitted thing I've ever made and this was the first time I used a different stitch with the regular cable stitch---I know! I am such a dare devil huh? Poor Joe got one of my FIRST knitted scarves for Christmas, so his has a few boo-boo's in it. Hey!? you want another one Joe? COME-ON Sure ya do!
Look Joe and Kip! Guys knit too. I found this guy that makes hats for his friends--It's called "The Knitting Project"

You can see the pattern better in this shot. I just made up the pattern. It's 7 rows of regular knitting (cable stitch) then you knit 2 and purl 2 for 5 rows, then you go back to the 7 rows of cable stitching. You can tell I am a beginner since I don't know the abreviations yet for the patterns :(
** Here's more about blocking.
http://www.eunnyjang.com/knit/2006/05/block_me_amadeus_1.html So....I ripped out the first cowl neck scarf (that snake sweater I told you about yesterday) It was just too small in diameter. It was so HARD to knit that first complete circle without getting a twist in it. I also started it at about 9pm last night ---so my eyes were tired--- but FINALLY I had success. The yarn is Louisa Harding Kimono Angora, Color 2
http://www.astridsdutchobsessions.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1446. I am using size 6 circular needles (16") casted on 120 stitches.
See how soft it is?
BTW: I HAVE been doing a little art, but until I get this knitting bug outta me, I think finishing any painting or drawing will be ummm...well, it will take a back seat for a bit. ((who knows)) I think what I should probably do is MAJOR art on the weekends and then do knitting during week late at night to un-wind. Ok, that's the plan.
Annie? I JUST now got your Christmas gift! The package says you mailed it in Nov. 26th? But I see that you had transposed a couple numbers on my zip code. :( But at least I got it! Thank you very much. I's great! I plan to blog about your gift next time. :)
