My dream last night was so visually stunning that I want to wrap it up and save it to look at later - which will make writing it particularly hard and reading it not as enjoyable as dreaming it, but I'll do what I can.
I had been dreaming for a while, but all I can remember is that I ended up in custody somehow - I was in a large, high-ceilinged room, bare, polished, and full of light, and people were trying to restrain me on a table. The light was streaming in from wall-length windows. Several people in the room were just standing around watching while I struggled, but none of them stood between me and the windows. I heard a voice whisper in my head "Fly out the windows," and at the same time it occurred to one of the spectators that I would be able to escape that way and they shouted out to block the windows. But I finally threw my captors off of me and got a running start as I jumped out from a very great height, then swooped down towards the ground before heading back up towards the clouds.
I drifted in the clouds, taking in all of the scenery. After a while the clean white clouds grew darker and thicker, but I couldn't change direction. The clouds began to threaten me - very literally. Small, dark clouds would break away from the mass and approach me, taunting me and insulting me. As the storm clouds grew closer and closer together, they finally closed in and funneled me into a tube, which became a twisting hallway. The walls of the hallway had dark figures either carved into them or growing from them, because like the clouds they seemed to lean in closer towards me as I floated down the hallway.
After winding back and forth for a long time as if in a labyrinth, the walls finally opened up into what seemed like a very dark, very leafy house. I was aware of a distinctly hostile presence in the house, but I couldn't see anything. I think there was some sort of vague confrontation with this presence, but whatever problem it had with me seemed to be resolved, because the thing materialized, and the light grew stronger.
The thing was actually a giant, which served as a gatekeeper in this house in the clouds - because we were still definitely in the clouds, as I could see from the windows. One window even had water pouring over it like a waterfall - it was raining on that side. The walls of the house were mostly covered in plants, and the giant himself looked like he was made of leaves and vines. He was a gatekeeper because only he could guarantee passage through the clouds. There appeared to be furniture or objects in the house, but I couldn't actually make out what any of it was, because every possible surface was covered with mounds of glass balls of all shapes and colors, catching the light from the sky outside. There were millions of them - these, the giant told me, were like tokens for passage through the clouds, but only the right combination could get a single traveler through safely. The last thing I really remember is sorting through the glass and letting the balls roll through my hands, trying to find the right ones to get me back out of the sky.
