David sighed, looking up from his book as he heard a rustling outside his tent. He was getting ready to ask Greg where he had been and why he hadn't dropped off his sleeping back and backpack yet, but he realised the head poking its way in wasn't Greg's.

"Oh, sorry," The head smiled. David blinked, a bit confused as to why the leader of the Liberal Democrats was sticking his head into his tent. "I thought this was someone else's tent," Nick smiled at David. "Well, you've got it warm in here," Nick looked around, glancing down at the heat lamp that was both warming the tent up and providing David with light.

David smiled politely at the intruder to his tent, "Yes, or at least it was before you started letting all the warm air out."

"Oh!" Nick reacted a bit belatedly, "Mind if I come in then? It's a bit chilly out there, you know."

David snorted, "Sure, just shake the snow off your jacket and zip up behind you." He was supposed to be promoting cross-party cooperation, after all.

Nick smiled with a lot more cheer than David really thought that should have got and did just as David said to do. As he zipped the entry flap closed behind him, he looked over his shoulder and smiled at David blissfully, "See, you're doing it right. Sitting in here in the quiet with a nice book. What is that?"

David glanced down at the book in his hands once before closing it, "Nothing interesting."

"Then why are you reading it?" Nick asked as he sat down on the floor of the tent, next to David and the heater.

David shrugged, "I like something mellow to ease me into sleep."

Nick nodded a bit more enthusiastically than David thought the explanation deserved, "ooooooh!"

"Are you all right?" David finally asked, laughing to himself at his new-found companion's odd behaviour.

"Yeah, yeah, just a bit... er..." Nick trailed off and didn't look like he was going to finish his sentence at all.

"Drunk?" David asked.

"I'm not drunk!" Nick said indignantly, though David really wanted to protest. "Just a bit tipsy, I think. They managed to sneak some alcohol up here and at first that was pretty cool, you know, but then they got kind of wild... and someone had a joint. I only wanted a little something before sleep, so I got up and left. But I went to the wrong tent, which is why I'm here." Nick explained with very demonstrative hands.

"Really?" David sighed and had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. Sometimes, MPs were worse than teenagers, "You couldn't keep your Lib Dems in line then, Nick?"

Nick shook his head, "Not one of mine, David. Well... mine brought the alcohol, but not the joint. And your tent-mate is in my tent, too. Er... Barker... what's his first name?"

"Greg," David answered immediately, realising why he was all alone in his tent before, "His name is Greg. You're the leader of a party now, Nick, you should really start memorising people's names."

"I don't know how you do it," Nick shrugged. "You must have a photographic memory or something, because I can't remember faces like that. I'll get better at it though, I'm sure! You know," Nick tilted his head thoughtfully, "the only reason I can remember your name, I think, is- is 'cause you're the leader of the Tories. And you kind of remind me of this kid I used to play tennis against at uni."

David laughed, "Well, good to know there's a reason you know who I am, Nick." Nick shrugged apologetically. David smiled, "You know, it could have been me. I played tennis at Oxford. Captain of Brasenose's team."

Nick, in his slightly intoxicated state, found that hilarious, "Think of how funny that would be!"

David just looked at Nick, confused, "What?"
