Subject: Official Post-NYE Meet-Up Thread

Shitweek (Dianne) [Moderator]
Did everybody enjoy themselves?

Share constructive criticisms, your favourite memories and any possible pictures you have of the evening, but remember: no pictures can be posted without EXPLICIT PERMISSION from everybody in the picture to share said photo.

I spent majority of the evening with my Tory friend on this comfy little sofa at the back of the pub. Had the most lovely time. :)

1977 (David) [Moderator]
Why must we have the stupid picture rule? It just came about because Peter wanted to control Tony's "image" and wouldn't allow any uggo pictures of him circulating.

Some of us look hot in all the pictures.

Also I hear there's a picture circulating on TG.org of Ed with "socialist knob enthusiast" written on his forehead.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
It must photoshopped, nobody wrote anything on my forehead. I'm also not enthusiastic about knobs.

1977 (David) [Moderator]
I've seen you look at some doors rather fondly.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
Shut up, David, you're not funny in the least.

1977 (David) [Moderator]
Oh noes what will happen to be TV satire writing career now?

Everton (Andy) [Moderator]
Your what now?

Here's a picture of The Ballster playing darts against Tories. We won but they won at trivia, smug bastards.

In the background you can see Dennis being carried by some former rugby player so he can stare down Tories more efficiently. Good times.

Post edited by The Ballster: I look fat in this. Also - no permission from the random Tory at the bottom left corner. So.

SKINNAD (DENNIS)
TORIES WERE VERY FRIGHTENED

STARING DOWN BECOME HARDER THE DRUNKER THE RUGBY PLAYER CAME, THOUGH

STILL, PLEASANT EVENING ESPECIALLY ONCE THE UNIONFORUM LADS SHOWED UP.

HERE IS A PICTURE OF RONNIE POINTING AT SOME TORY PUKING HA HA HA HA

WAIT HOW DO I POST A PICTURE

KhantBelieveIt (S.) [Moderator]
Have you uploaded the image file somewhere, Dennis? Just put [img] tags around the URL, should work.

SKINNAD (DENNIS)
BOY IT'S A PICTURE, IT IS IN MY CAMERA STILL

WHAT BIT DO I TAKE OFF TO GET IT OUT

KhantBelieveIt (S.) [Moderator]
Er. Perhaps it's best if you let somebody else look it over.

SKINNAD (DENNIS)
IMGFILE0038.JPG

DOES THAT WORK

feminisms (Harriet) [Moderator]
...oh dear.

It was a lovely time, though I could've done without the advances of one ToryGlory member.

The Ballster (Ed) [Moderator]
I could've done without the advances of all of them.

Comrade by the Big Ben (Sally)
They all advanced on you all at once? #strangetories #poorballster

1977 (David) [Moderator]
These are all pictures of me lookin' supa-fly and Ed looking nerdy as hell.

Especially this one is great.

And this one I took in the toilets with BAMFshaw.

This is me and Ed's girlfriend while he was in the loo. She looks smitten. Lady picked the wrong Miliband.

This is Ed in his corduroy suit, arguing with David from TG.org. Not sure why I even have this photo since it doesn't contain me. Laaaaame.

This is the Ballster and Andy DISCUSSING FOOTBALL.

Post edited by The Ballster: Sorry Tony version 2.0, looks like you took shots of Alistair's ear and other various people who didn't give permission for their pictures to be posted.

1977 (David) [Moderator]
Um, the photo description for the last one was rather different when I typed it?

The Ballster (Ed) [Moderator]
Was it? Well, it wasn't me who edited it.

Mind explaining why your fly is open in the loo pic with BAMFshaw?

1977 (David) [Moderator]
I do mind, actually.

BigBushyBeard (Alistair)
Had a rather pleasant time, though at one point me and Alan were discussing something and NOTGIDEON rudely interrupted and went on to point out how he agreed with me on everything I said. Then some other Tories joined us and he made a point to reference our previous discussions and how much he agreed with me then, as well, even when I pointed out he hadn't actually agreed with me at all back in the day.

Most awkward.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
David, my girlfriend looks frightened and put-off and she for one thought my corduroy suit was very lovely.

1977 (David) [Moderator]
So she simply lacks any kind of taste, then.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
Wrong again.

Why is Ben's fly open in the loo pic as well?

1977 (David) [Moderator]
Can we forget about the loo pic and focus on Andy and the other Ed DISCUSSING FOOTBALL?

Post edited by Everton.

Scoop (Yvette) [Moderator]
LOL. Get a little alcohol in both and they're always 'discussing football'.

The Ballster (Ed) [Moderator]
Norwich has had a very exciting season, dear. :(

Scoop (Yvette) [Moderator]
Is that why they're always playing against Everton? ;)

superfragilisticexpialidocious (Jack)
I of course visited the meet up but did not stay for very long. For one, I feel rather old these days, and much prefer a quiet evening in to a wild one out, but also because I feel it is not in my place to observe the goings on of the forum as much as I have in the past years.

Of course I also subscribe to the idea put forward by former forum user Andy Rawr in his legendary thread "End of Party" in which he explored the bitter arguments at something AM outside a poor kebab shop, or the power games performed at the taxi queue by people who at the beginning of the evening, had been the dearest of friends. Andy's thesis was simple: that all good parties end at exactly 1:13 AM and everything goes downhill after the clock strikes that particular time.

I have written about Andy's theories, both great and small, in Jack's Pensive Corner, so I shan't go on about them.

TonyPwns (Tony)
Ugh don't even mention Andy Rawr. That man is dead to me after he wrote The Rise and Fall of TonyPwns. DEAD.

Also I was never Gordon's bitch like he claimed.

RedPaper (Gordon)
I don't recall reading him claim that..

TonyPwns (Tony)
You can read it between the lines, though.

RedPaper (Gordon)
So you did read it even though you said you wouldn't?

TonyPwns (Tony)
Why are you being so cranky? It's not my fault he wrote what he wrote! Or is this about me not having read your manuscript? I've been busy. I have decided to take over the world. Or take up gardening. One of the two.

RedPaper (Gordon)
Well, if you're too busy to read it, why did you beg to see it?

TonyPwns (Tony)
I didn't beg and I just wanted to see if it was better than mine. Two pages in I decided mine was better, so I stopped. There, you happy? Why don't you leave me alone?

Oh and why didn't you show up at the meet up? Was stuck with Jonathan the whole night when Peter didn't come, either. Dull!

Postie (Alan)
Had a very delightful time throughout the evening. Got a bit of sick on my shoes though, but somebody gave me a tissue and they were fine after that. :)

Machiavellirox (Jonathan)
It wasn't that dull of an evening, was it, Tony?

Alexander teh great (Douglas)
I chatted to some Liberals, which was a mistake since one of them stole my identity, a tall ginger bastard.

Bastard.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
I talked to some Yellow & Orange members as well but most of them were quite reasonable. I had to talk to the staff about two of them as they were smaller in stature and kept getting carded whenever they bought a drink.

PointsOfAwesome (John)
I can sympathise with their predicament.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
It was fine towards the end of the evening. The tall ginger identity thief carried them home.

Alexander teh great (Douglas)
I repeat: bastard.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
You know, his first name was Danny, not Douglas.

Alexander teh great (Douglas)
Oh really? I suppose that's fine then.

The Ballster (Ed) [Moderator]
Aw, does that mean we're not going to go troll Y&O after all?

Alexander teh great (Douglas)
I'm afraid it does, Ed.

The Ballster (Ed) [Moderator]
Well, there's a weekend's worth of planning gone down the drain, then.

Hurpdurp (Ed) [Admin]
Serves you right for trying to troll an innocent forum! Why don't you go back to DISCUSSING FOOTBALL with SOMEBODY NOT ANDY?

Ed don't be a prACTICALLY AWESOME PERSON.

As am I, boss.

I always knew I wanted to kind of write what happened on NYE but couldn't decide in what format.. This didn't quite reach its epic potential, I feel.

But - basically - the forum I used to mod back in the day had these epic meet-ups and stuff would always happen but it was kept hush-hush until the two people who it happened between came out and admitted to it. But before that it circulated around private conversations as rumours that everybody would sort of giggle over. So I think plenty of that kind of thing has occurred but of course, nobody is discussing it in public. So maybe I'll explore the hidden world of rumour mongering later on. But for now, this will suffice.

Dude! What do you mean? This was awesome, srsly! This verse is growing from a fic into a class of its own with every instalment :D

(I adored the two tiny LibDems and the identity thief!!) This verse keeps getting better and better, and thank you for bringing this pure win to this meme :)

P.S- has the Great Kinnock ever made an personal appearance on this verse? I've been looking back through delicious, but can't remeber...

Nope, he's just been referred to. I don't know much about the man, apart from some quotes I've read so I think I'd have a hard time channelling his voice in any sort of way.

I figure both him and Smithy (who is naturally alive despite digital demise) are kind of "past" spending their time arguing online. Neil will be discussed in one part of this overview thingy.

&Thank you, as always. :)

Tony is brilliant at dispelling the rumours around him as usual. Love the identity thieving Lib Dem and the two tiny Lib Dems as well :)
