This one comes from Dacid Mitchell (http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/jan/02/david-mitchell-lib-dems-toby-young-bbc-strictly).

Basically this in fic form.

Lib Dems live up to suicide pledge

"Everyone had been calling them the party of broken promises for months," complained Inspector Adam Jenkins of East Sussex police, responsible for the security of Beachy Head, "so when we got the letters, I'm afraid we didn't take them seriously."

Charles Kennedy's social worker agreed: "Look, the guy was a time-waster. I was expecting a bit of self-harm at most."

These were among the reactions when the bodies of 20 Lib Dem MPs, largely from the left of the party, washed up on the beach after their 2011 party conference. It was a shocking morning for the manager of Eastbourne pier: "It was low tide and I was checking the struts for drowned senior citizens when I noticed that one of them was Menzies Campbell."

All of the suicides' letters expressed deep distress at the direction their party has taken since entering into government with the Conservatives, except for ex-MP Lembit Opik's which was largely directed at Welsh singer-songwriter Duffy, whom he described as "the perfect cross between Sian Lloyd and a Cheeky Girl", and also contained an idea for a daytime quiz show.

That's an article written in incredibly bad taste. We do actually have a Lib Dem suicide pact fic though, and it breaks my heart every time

I hate that I've written this
We're all in this together.

That's what they'd said, what Cameron had said for them. He didn't know how far in it together they were.

All those meetings, and those in government thought they were organising a coup, but laughed it off. They didn't think they were capable of it, because they were Liberal Democrats. Always underestimated, and time to prove them wrong.

Sarah was sobbing into Charles' chest. It was the only noise made from the 22 gathered MPs, besides Jo and Duncan's final goodbye. Charles whispered to the woman in his arms, "You don't have to do this, Sarah. You can go home."

"I can't. I can't, I can't," she whispered. "I can't go on like this."

"Don't quote Cameron at me. You don't have to do it."

"None of us do, Charlie, yet all of us do," Paddy's voice calmly informed him. Others were shaking, trembling with the significance of what was happening, whereas others stood stock still. They'd long since stopped being able to feel. But Paddy was neither of those things; he felt it, the pain of betrayal, the guilt, the torturous helplessness, but he shut himself down from it. He was a soldier, a soldier who knew that this was their final battle.

There was the sound of a car's approach. Ming, ever leader, spoke up, "It's now or never. It's time to make your choices. You can still leave, no one will think any less of you. But do so quickly. Do so for the right reasons. Do so if you still believe we can save the trembling wreck of our party with your words and actions. We got to government on those beliefs, and then we learnt that no one's ever going to listen to us. They never will. Because we're nothing." His last words were a bitter hiss.

With that, Ming was gone. Jumped over the side. The splash came a moment later, of his body hitting the surface. He didn't try to swim.

"They've broken us," whispered Ed Davey, as if he'd only just realised, that moment, with the sight of one of their leaders falling to his death. He too then jumped, silent. They all fell in silence, one by one, taking their leave of life with as much dignity as they could muster.

Sarah's tears soon mingled with the bitter salt of the sea.

David Laws stood, watching, as his party destroyed itself. Better to take it's own life than be inevitably slaughtered by others in a painful end.

And then there were footsteps. He glanced around, like a frightened bunny caught in headlights, a child spotted when he knew he was doing something wrong. A tall figure strode towards him, and a pain shot through his chest.

"James. Please. Please don't be here. Please don't watch me. Please don't stop me." His voice emerged cracked and hollow, words tumbling from his lips.

"I'm not here to stop you, David." James reached out for his partner's hand, and laced it through his own. "But you're not going on your own."

That brought relief so painful, David's knees shook and he almost fell. James arms came around him, pulled him close one last time, holding him steady.

"How did you know?" David asked.

"Don't you think I know, by now, when you're keeping secrets."

With that, they too, joined the murky depths of the ocean, and the bridge stood empty.

Can you hear that sound? That's the sound of my heard breaking. Anon this so beautifully sad, it really does want to make me cry. This is very very good.

David Mitchell has been losing my respect and losing any will to find him funny. This article pushed me over the edge. Even if we ignore the Lib Dem part it just was not funny.
