I went to a geek social (and was still the most awkward person there)

I went to a geek social with my co-worker Ecogeek. He's a sweet guy and is moving away soon so I was glad to be able to spend some time with him.
Now, for those of you who are not in know (I wasn't), a geek social is a place where various types of geek meet up to eat, drink and geek out together. We got name tags. There were easily 40+ people ( Read more... )

ho man! I wish there were something like that that I could go to... the closest thing for to geek out Star Trek (especially Star Trek) is in Vegas.

I can understand the open relationship thing. I'm sort of like that, but I also like the idea of the menge lifestyle (which I talked about a while back in this entry http://ahorashiikagome.livejournal.com/2010/08/08/ if you care to read it). You don't really share your man, but you get two! XD

Ecogeek found this little geek social through meetup.com. He's huge into social media and regularly goes to events he finds on twitter/meetup.com/facebook/ect. If you're brave enough maybe there's something like that in your area? I wouldn't want to go alone but if you drag a likeminded friend along it could be fun .

Also, on the menage lifestyle: Doesn't Tilda Swinton do this? You're probably aware of that little piece of trivia, though (:.
In theory I would love to have two men attending to my every needs, seriously. But I think in practice it just wouldn't really work for me. I think everyone needs to figure out what works for them. I guess I'm lucky that what I want (think I want?) also conforms well to the social norm and no one is really going to question me on it.
We'll see though. I'm always open to pondering alternative lifestyles in my head and I certainly wouldn't judge anyone who chooses to have a different kind of relationship than I have. Love is to precious to confine it to one standard.

lol that's the problem, the closest friend I have that's into the fandom as much as I am is just over 700 miles away *sad face* We're both planning on going to the Official Star Trek Convention next year in Vegas, but we're both having money problems XC

I dunno who Tilda Swinton is. Sorry. A lot of people think the Menge Lifestyle is like polyamory but it's slightly different. *shrugs* I think people should love how they want to love. I've never lived menge before, but I am very interested in it. The trick is finding two men who understand it and understand that because I have both of them does not give them the right to date another woman. I'm pretty possessive with my men lol So, I'd be like who and claw the girls face off XD
