Advice from the Pioneer Woman. And strangely it's exactly why I sought out canning with my mother. My life feels in disarray and fallen apart, and it reminds me of my granny. Something simpler, something small but satisfying knowing that you are capable. I wonder if it was a relief for her. A small pleasure she took, which I'm sure it was.
I know she always told me when you're feeling down just to do something. She was always doing something. Cleaning, yard work, laundry, cooking, baking. Always the old fashioned way, hanging clothes out on the line. Maybe she lived a life constantly worrying, but these brought her pleasure. And strangely I do feel like a weight is lifted now that I can see the floor of my bedroom.
