Sometimes on LJ/DW or Tumblr you come across stories of people who are struggling with really toxic living situations because they don't have the finances to leave -- and it's not uncommon for the financial problems to be disability-related. For people in such situations in the United States, there are two types of organizations that might be able to help, that people might not know about or have thought of in this context:
(1) Your local Center for Independent Living. CILs are primarily known for assisting people who have mobility or sensory impairments, but more of them are reaching out to people with psychiatric disabilities as well. So someone who is unable to work outside the home due to severe anxiety disorder, for example, might be served by a CIL. As I understand it, this is highly variable right now, with some locations doing a great job and others not doing anything when it comes to mental illness, but it's worth checking out.
(2) Domestic violence shelters. Again, primarily known for one thing (serving people who are experiencing physical abuse from a spouse or romantic partner), but most of them also address other forms of abuse such as verbal, emotional, and economic abuse, and some of them will work with adults experiencing abuse from other family members such as parents or siblings. Even if it's not part of their mission to offer shelter in situations like that, they may be able to help with counseling, case management, or other resources.
