favorite aliens?
I feel like returning to my roots... I'm craving actual written sci-fi!
What are your favorite books or short stories with believable alien world-building? Bonus points for exploring the implications of alien biology (along the lines of "Love is the Plan the Plan is Death").
Nearly all the sci-fi I've read in the past 20 years has been of the human space opera sort; most of the classic sci-fi I read as a child was lost in the Great Book Purge of '92. So feel free to rec anything and everything, don't hold back because of "Oh but surely she's already read that" or whatever.
