Orange!
We had an Orange sighting tonight! When I went down around 8:30 to let in the outdoor cats, he was there too!
He was still too scared to come in through the window when the other cats did. I grabbed a can of cat food and opened it and put it on the inside window ledge, then went and sat down far away, with my back mostly to the window. He came onto the ledge and ate a few bites of food. I called upstairs to Andy to have him sneak out the back and close the window from the outside, but something spooked Orange and he ran off.
But I am so relieved to know that he's willing to approach the house now. I was really worried about how we were going to provide him with non-frozen water in the winter if he insisted on living out in the woods. But we can put a heated water bowl out there by the window, and that will buy us quite a lot of time to lure him back in.
I hadn't seen him at all this week. I checked the brush pile several times and he wasn't there, so he must have found another den somewhere. (Our neighborhood has no shortage of places a cat might like to hide in.)
