a question for the seamstresses among us

Aug 10, 2010 15:10

I would like to make some tab top drapes for my dining room, because I don't like any of the ready-made ones I've found. We don't have any decent fabric stores locally, so I'll have to order online, I presume. (I should go check out Hobby Lobby and Jo-Anne just to be sure, but what are the odds?) Do you have any merchants that you recommend for decorating fabrics? Any recommended sources for this sort of pattern?

I want the drapes to be washable, I want to line them with plain cotton to improve the insulation, and if possible I would love to get swatches, because I want them to coordinate with two large paintings by my sister that are on the adjoining wall. Um, and also, I sew like once every five years and was never particularly good at it, so do you foresee any pitfalls I should be aware of?
