So, I guess my coach for like the past 4 years retired a month ago to spend more time with her son, and I say good for her! So the barns owner/coach is my new coach and HOLY HELL have I improved in the past 4 weeks. I kid you not, it's like night and day. I'm nailing my jumping seat, and I'm getting the correct strides on a 4 jump circle sequence and in each ride I've done flat on Strider I've improved
with my old coach the first time I rode him it took me nearly half an hour to canter, the second ride on him with Tam as my instructor 10 minutes, my third ride on him with Tam right off the bat. Strider is green, he is 4, and he is very sensitive. So sensitive that you have to ride like pre-training level to be anything on him.
scary news, Luna has been through hell and back and so has her owner. Getting tangled in a gate (would have snapped her legs right off if she wasn't so robust), had to be in isolation in a stall because if she laid down her cuts would reopen, and now she's having trouble peeing. I'm praying that it's nothing too serious, I will cry buckets if she has to be put down.
Not to mention my favourite barn cat was coyote'd and they had to put him down. Poor black cat. And now Oliver is colicking. I can't even imagine being the girl who owns him. I caught a glimpse of her beating(not actually beating..) her horse to make him get up because when you're colicking you can't lie down otherwise serious business will ensue. Oh man, I felt so bad for the both of them It was pretty terrifying actually. Horse are like investments on a ticking time bomb.
