I don't need to use the spoiler icon, do I?

...I mean, it's obliterated box office records at this point.

HP&tDHpt2. That's the least useful shorthand ever. Deathly Hallows. First time I saw it, I cried. (Remus!) I've seen it twice now, and I could stand to see it in theaters once more. And then, what I have been waiting a DECADE or more for - I want the full bells and whistles HP movies 1-8 Blu-Ray special edition box set that comes with an ACTUAL MAGIC WAND. Which I will never use, because um - mint in box!

Thoughts.

The ending was a tad anti climatic. No one was watching when Harry defeated Voldemort with what was apparently a terminal case of dandruff? No one? Not even Luna? Really? But he just - , Greatest Dark Wizard of all-, Epic battle that determines the entire future of-, oh, Project Runway is on. Enough said.

Also, we're just going to SNAP the elder wand and toss it off the (fucking precarious!) bridge? Really. Hermione, you're not going to step up and defend the preservation of a ridiculously important magical artifact? No - we're just going to snap it like a twig. Ok David Hayes, the movies are over. We get it.

Wish we'd gotten more Hero!Neville. Also - setting Neville up with Luna. Boring! Also, not canon. Neville marries Hannah Abbott, Luna marries Rolf Scamander. AND EVERYONE IN HARRY POTTER MARRIES THE FIRST PERSON THEY SUCCESSFULLY DATE. Except Ginny, but she's a skank.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Bonnie Wright is TERRIBLE. She's a DREADFUL DREADFUL actress, and an INFURIATING Ginny Weasley. To oversimplify Ginny for a moment, she's FredorGeorge with longer hair and a beaver. She is smart and compassionate and a powerful witch in her own right and not to be trifled with. Bonnie Wright...has long red hair. So glad her performances are over and done. She hasn't done a stitch of good work since Chamber of Secrets.

Sad that Harry (and maybe Ron and Hermione too?) didn't cast patronuses when they apparated into Hogsmeade and set of the caterwauling charm. Last movie, and no patronuses aside from flashbacks? Boo.

Dumbledore...I knew a lot of that would get cut.

Snape and Lily. This has made me sad from movie 5. Snape's worst memory is NOT of James humiliating him - it's because that's the day he calls Lily a Mudblood and loses her forever. This was left out of the movie and it's SUCH an important theme in the book - how the choices we make shape us.

Ok, it's 4:30, and I should be asleep. I might come back to this later. Or not.

rambling, harry potter
