Note: Please watch knowing that this video addresses issues of narratives about women and power and control and mental health. It could be upsetting, but my hope is more for it to be part cathartic and part interrogation. And FWIW I think Crazy-Ex Girlfriend is most generally delightful.
Hi my Dreamwidth friends. Happy holiday (if happy is a possibility right now) for those of you who are celebrating. I hope this time is rejuvenating and not too stressful... I'm trying my best to find that these last couple of days.
Since the election, I had to control my twitter addiction because it was driving me to a dark place, even though I was also glad to find people who share my response. Still, I was consuming and digging myself deeper, so I made a conscious decision to change, and instead I poured my post-election feels into the making of this Crazy Ex-Girlfriend vid. It’s funny: I thought I wouldn’t be able to vid, and yet vidding was one of the only things (other than gathering with people and meeting with my students) that made me feel better. // (Also, my students made some amazingly inspirational videos--I'm going to see whether they're okay with my sharing them).
